Title: Split Window view in Xworkplace
Post by: Martin Iturbide on September 15, 2016, 03:59:48 pm
Hi

The OS2VOICE "OS/2 voice an update from the chairman " article says:

Development of the so called Split Window view in Xworkplace has been finished; this was been by Rich Walsh at a cost of $900. While the binaries and source code are currently not publicly available yet, sources will be committed to http://trac.netlabs.org/xworkplace and binaries will be uploaded to hobbes.nmsu.edu. The changes are currently receiving final testing before being submitted into SVN.

I would really like to see that. I was hoping that with "Split Window" and some kind of navigator menu on top a modern navigation on the OS/2 desktop can be provided (http://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/Comments_and_Suggestions_about_eComStation_User_Experience#Recommendation_.233_.E2.80.93_GUI_.E2.80.93_The_Navigator.). But sometimes hopes does not align to reality.  I don't know if someone has seen it or have some screenshot to don't have a false expectation.

Regards

Note: I posted this is because I'm exited to have some new feature on the Desktop GUI and on XWorkplace instead of just bugfixing.

Keep this up and we will end up with something like File Freedom.

WPS-Wizard (http://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/WPS-Wizard) has a good idea of Menus on the windows, but I never see some folder navigation on the icons.

Something like this fake image I created:

(Before someone freak out, remember that idea is that features can be turn on and off, just like someone will like to customize the GUI).
