Title: How to make FireFox appear as a windows browser?
Post by: David Graser on March 15, 2019, 11:44:35 pm
Sites such as Netflix require a Windows or Apple browser.  How can I make our browser appear as a windows browser when accessing these sites?

I am wondering if the site will allow video play if it thinks this browser is a Windows browser.

You can't. Our browsers just don't support the DRM module that Netflix uses. I believe it is basically a binary extension.

David,

As Dave noted, the media stuff may be a dead-end, but in other instances you can use an add-on like 'User Agent Switcher' that will setup the browser ID tags to make it appear as if your OS/2 based FF is actually a Winx, Linux, MAC, whatever you want.

I occasionally use this approach with sites that insist I need a specific level of FF and clearly that is not available on our platform.
