Hi Martin

Your "Processes=34" may be a little low; a value of 156 works on my ArcaOS system.

Hi Doug

Have you tried installing the cleaned ppd file to a "virgin" copy of psprint.drv?

Hi Doug

Do you have the hplip package installed - provides filters for most HP printers.

Hi Doug

Have you tried cups since updating and running klusmgr? - I ask because I seem to recall that was the fix for the user/password problem with the rpm installed cups.

You may also want to use ANPM to check that all cups packages are current.

Hi Erik

If the printer is listed as available support it should work to some degree but may not be capable of some functions. I think you will need to "suck it and see"  :-)

My Canon MG7550 can only print to the paper from cassette tray 2 (A4) and is unable to print to photo paper and envelopes which are in cassette tray 1. This seems to be a limitation of the OS/2 postscript printer driver rather than a cups problem though.

Hi Lars

Yes, using AN drivers on ArcaOS5.

I'll have to boot windows sometime and check that the "Presets 4" key actually works I guess as it is the only key not seen by xWorkplace.

Hi Lars

Using xWorkplace almost all extra keys on this keyboard are seen; the exception is the "4" key in the "Presets" group at the top of the keyboard which is simply not seen at all - no scan code when pressed.

Hi Lars

Having a Wireless/PS2 connected keyboard with a few extra keys that are not seen by OS/2 I would certainly appreciate an updated IBMKBD.SYS if you are thinking of building that driver.

The keyboard is a Logitech Wireless Desktop Comfort Laser https://support.logitech.com/en_gb/product/cordless-desktop-comfort-laser

Comments, Suggestions & Questions / Re: Captcha doesn't like old browsers

Hi Dave

Am I right in thinking that there are a few variations of javascript? - and if "Yes" could it be that most websites use MS/Internet Explorers variation and that switching User Agent to Internet Explorer means that Seamonkey/Firefox uses the Internet Explorer javascript variant?

And, of course, there are a lot of websites that check which browser is in use and may not work or work properly if the browser/version is not in their "browser list".

Applications / Re: cups installed, how to start it?
« on: October 21, 2018, 10:43:25 pm »
Hi

If using ArcaOS there should be Install Printer and Manage Printers in the Desktop -> Computer -> Printers folder.

Alternatively there is a HowTo here http://trac.netlabs.org/ecups/wiki/HowTo

Hi

Not sure which of the variants I have installed... Is there any way of discovering this from the installed package?

I ask because I see the occasional crash which does not generate a trp file and does not appear in popuplog.os2

Hi Rene

If you create a ticket about the missing backend you then have a chance that the people involved with porting cups will be able to look into porting that backend.

Hi Rene

Is your cups installation rpm based or from wpi/zip files?

If an rpm installation then create a ticket via the ticketing system here http://trac.netlabs.org/rpm/report

If wpi/zip based create a ticket here http://trac.netlabs.org/ecups/report
