Networking / Re: XWLan updates

Eirik - as you said if the problem is genmac does not support your hardware then xwlan can nothing do about that. From your posts at the newsgroup gmane.org.netlabs.genmac.user I'm not sure if you ever tried without security (WPA) and if you ever solved your 'no valid MAC address' issue. Moreover did you test the executables in the genmac directory? f.i. 'link -verbose' 'scan verbose' At least a 'type wrnd32$' should give some info about what the driver sees.

And if these things all are working then you should try 'dimtest' from the \xwlan directory.

Please post your findings on the genmac newsgroup as this is probably the best place for you to get some help.

The Voyager Project seemed to be interesting, but perhaps it was another example of ineffective communication.
I doubt communication was the main problem but to lees volunteers to do the work.

Networking / Re: OS/2, Realtek and NIC drivers
« on: October 09, 2013, 06:57:08 pm »
At that time I looked into the rtgnda sources but honestly I'm not so masochist these days anymore to try fixing a NIC driver written in assembler. Multimac is the way to go in this case.

The os2 kernel sources would be the only reason for me if available to dig into assembler again.

And it works, except ....

Have to repeat myself whenever I read rtgnda as I really had a hard time to find that out -

Do a search on the internet before trying it. Years ago I installed my system with it and got sporadic traps. Took me months till I found out it was this driver. After that others told me this driver is known to sporadically trap systems. Maybe it was Eugene so probably there are some traces about ecomstation.ru...

Maybe you have to create another xcenter/ecenter and delete the one you have afterwards. Thinks it was discussed here how to do a few weeks ago.

Minimize all - I had this function a while ago bound to one of the Win keys. But don't think it was in the xwp key settings but some other key tool delivered with some eCS versions. But can not find right now....

Did I miss some button at GitHub? I can not find something like 'timeline' or 'changes since'.

There is a long list of repos  but how to find out on which was some activity in the past days?

Networking / Re: Secure ftp server?

On stunnel.org I found -

Stunnel cannot be used for the FTP daemon because of the nature of the FTP protocol which utilizes multiple ports for data transfers. There are SSL aware FTP servers available.

Alternatively you could use a different protocol. All versions of SSH include a program called scp which works like rcp. Recent versions of OpenSSH include a program called sftp which has an ftp-like feel.

So I still do not see how I to access files on my server secure from remote.

I looked at the OpenSSH package which includes a sftp server. Maybe that's the way to go. It it's so simple to check 'SSL/TLS' box in TotalCommander but no clue if this is doable with stunnel or openssh.

Networking / Secure ftp server?
« on: September 16, 2013, 09:16:55 pm »
Is there a secure ftp server for eCS? I'm currently using Peter Moylan's ftp server but this does not support login with SSL / TSL. AFAIK with usual ftp the password is transmitted as plain text. What do you use when you want to access files on your server from outside?

Yes you can filter by f.i. right click over an entry. I think the filter list can be show by right click on empty space of the widget.

As in your first post you gave the output of mode com2 which shows a very hight baud rate (baud = 345600), I think the mode switching was successful, wasn't it?

Isn't there some dialer software like Injoy Dialer necessary to establish an IP connection over a modem? At least this was the case with the old standard modems before ADSL was introduced. And the stick seems to emulate a standard modem which needs AT strings to dial in.

Of course you can send this AT strings with a standard terminal program like ZOC or Hyper.. (?) too.

That leads me to assume, that using my "Profile 'Zu Hause' " does not start the DHCP process ?!

dhcstrt.cmd is only called when the new interface is set for 'TCPIP automatic configuration' in XWLAN. Every time when you switch between profiles or disable/enable wireless and the new interface is set for automatic config, dhcmon /t is called to stop dhcpcd.exe (DHCP daemon). XWLAN even tries to kills the deamon if it refuses to stop with dhcmon /t. Afterwards XWLAN start it again with dhcstrt.cmd. At least this is the case with the current XWLAN code.

netdrive ftp plugin support >2GB too. I use it as ftp client in conjunction with LarsenCommander but can't remember if I ever tested it with >5GB. Server from Peter Moylan.

Edit: just tested with a 19GB file. Worked ok.
