Hi Martin,

the problem is gone on my TP when I login into os2world.com.  :)
Edit: I did not change anything. Just a new login.

I just realized that my Thunderbird doesn't crashes anymore. Usually I start Firefox and Thunderbird in the morning. After some time (an hour or so) Thunderbird freezes and must be killed using C-A-D or TOP. Since the new pmmerge.dll Thunderbird stopped freezing, which is quite nice.
I don't know if the new pmmerge.dll solved the issue or if I am just being biased  ;).

Mike

Applications / Re: FreeRDP - we have options!!!
« on: June 15, 2021, 02:59:58 pm »
With FreeRDP you can certainly be a single-click away from having access to a Firefox 'whatever version' you need ... locally on your OS/2 WPS literally as if it was just another PM window.
That's exactly what I'm dreaming of. So I installed the FreeRDP-package, and it works fine on my patched Windows-7-home-PC.

BUT not in application-program-mode.
...
Thanks for any idea.

Lutz Wagner

Hi Lutz,

I am using FreeRDP for some time by now to check the functions remotely of some Win machines in my network. I really love this tool.

I propose to check the example MSOFFICE.CMD you shall find in the installation folder of FreeRDP.
I just adjusted the path and login information to my configuration and it worked.
In this case I could start MS Office in my AOS. I assume same will be working also for the browser.

Regards,
Mike

No problems after restart so far. However I have no clue what pmmerge.dll is for.
Mike

tnx for testing.  pmmerge.dll  is a main dll which contains  code of Presentation Manager.

Thanks for the information about pmmerge.dll.
Martin, - also thanks to you for information about the dll.

Put it also in my TP X250 today (with AOS) - runs there as well as on my T430.

Why would he if it works with my drivers ?
Seriously, it is not the HW, it is the USB drivers failing and there are many error conditions.
It surely can be fixed and I spent months chasing these problems, they mostly are due to USB devices not behaving the way you would expect.

It is completely absurd that people are complaining about Windows reliability but accept about any odd workaround for OS/2.

If you switch to using OS/2 in a virtual machine, you can get rid of that problem anyway: use USB 2.x. The performance gain of USB 3.x is non existent anyways (with the OS/2 drivers at least). And for simple devices as keyboards, mice and even video/audio devices, USB 2.x will do the job just fine.
Using a virtual machine will also get rid of the problem of NVM, new network HW bla bla bla.

Hi Lars,
Yes, I totally agree about the use of your drivers. No need for workarounds like unplugging and re-plugging of devices. Your drivers just work. Great job - Thanks.

I am using OS/ 2 since version 2.1 always on bare metal. And I would like to stay this way as long as possible. By selecting the right hardware I have been able to get it running every time. If the hardware was at latest levels it took me some tweaking in the beginning but it worked out smoothly over time.

Apparently there might be differences between 12.07 and 12.08, regarding the messages from others. For some, 12.08 finally works, others get traps. I guess you have tested both versions?

Yes, I try always newest from AN to see if it is finally working. The AN drivers are okay as long as I only use the laptop with he track point and the internal keyboard. But having the laptop placed into the docking station I'd like to use my external mouse and keyboard. This configuration works only with Lars' drivers. The AN became even worse over time. In the beginning it helped to unplug the keyboard and plug it in again. With the latest two releases even this work around is not working any longer.

Greetings,
Mike

Hi Mike, can you please let me know the model of the Lenovo docking station that you are using? If it is not much to ask, can you please take a pci.exe report without the dock and with the dock to notice the difference, so I can add it to the OS2World wiki?

Hi Martin,

I am using the Thinkpad Pro Dock 90W. Please see attached picture for the type plate.

Kindly note that I have the USB3 feature of the X250 disabled, due to problems with the AN USB drivers. Even if only USB2 is enabled I need Lars Erdmann's drivers to use my external keyboard and mouse.

Greetings,
Mike

I have them here for the moment: https://archive.org/download/rpm-warp-samples

Hi Martin,

Thanks for all your efforts. I lie the idea for the rpm packages.
Is there a way to download these files? The link provided does not work.
