Utilities / Re: DB2 WIN-OS2 ODBC and ReportSmith
« on: August 20, 2019, 08:38:50 am »
I'll need to take closer look at the personal and even the developer versions to see if they can support remote network connections.  I assumed these were restricted to using only the loopback address.  I like to keep all my data/files/home directory on a (Warp) server separate from my varied client machines.

v6 DB2 using the v2 CAE from Win-OS2 is working perfectly.  I'm now thrilled I can use ReportSmith with DB2, the final missing piece.  I prefer RS over Approach, Crystal and InfoMaker which are all fine and also easy to use, just not my preference.

Doug, I owe you another beer.

I had given up getting ReportSmith to work w. DB2 after many attempts.  Unlike other ODBC data sources, Borland's documentation stated a DB2 gateway (OmniSQL MicroDecsionware, Gupta) was required to interface ReportSmith with DB2.

Your ODBC on OS/2 articles are fabulous and have been my go-to source to get ODBC properly configured.   It would be nice to see you publish more in the future!

I had attempted to use the Win16 v5.2 CAE with DB2 6.1 with poor results, but I have had great success using the v2 CAE.  I don't have v7 DB2 for OS/2 (still looking), but I will be installing IBM's Small Business Suite for Linux which includes DB2 v7.1.  Once set up, I'll try your CLP trick and see if I have better results using the v5.2 CAE in Win-OS2.  IBM's DB2 v7 software announcement 201-128 discusses v7 server connectivity with 5.2 and 6.1 DB2 products and is silent on v2, so the v5.2 CAE will be my only option if I use a v7 server.  The v6.1 server running on Warp Server has been working great for my needs.

Anybody else with the same problem?

Yes, received emails for two upgrades yesterday, but haven't been able to download.

Didn't have the "https" url issue, but needed to download using FF on Linux.   I was afraid the update might mung my system as I am using 386 HPFS, but the upgrade was uneventful and everything is working fine.

Paying in DEM would have been a great deal on shipping.  Euro it is :-).   I need to collect the boxes in the next week or two and I'll put one aside for you.   I'll contact you when I'm ready to ship.

I still have two other new Warp Server and two new Warp client boxes for anyone interested.

Off Topic discussions / Re: Should I go for it or better not?

I believe you are referring to the Pentium's floating point division bug.  This impacted certain calculations requiring precision at the fourth decimal place.  In '94 I was working in Ernst & Young's National accounting group and had issued a global audit advisory as the bug impacted actuarial and investment company net asset value calculations (SEC 270.22c-1) that could be material to financial reporting.

They are all EN.  NOS was to mean "New Old Stock - shrink wrapped box pack" not Network Operating System :-)

It looks like shipping to Germany via postal service, no declared value, approx. 3.6 kg, would be about 114 DEM ($65 USD).  Your eBay might have better pricing?

I have several NOS boxes of Warp Server that have been donated from one of the once great OS/2 ISVs that are available to anyone who is willing to pay shipping from Southern California.  PM me if interested.

Update: There are also a couple NOS boxes of Warp client.  I haven't seen these, but I'm guessing they are the V3 client.

Thank you very much for the offer, I had finally found a copy having actively looked nearly a year.   I use Relish daily, my favorite OS/2 application.

Someone will likely be very excited to discover your post and contact you for your copy.  It's sad that some of the great native OS/2 applications are no longer available.

I gave pmdraw2 (beta) a try on ArcaOS 5.03 and it works fine.

« on: June 20, 2019, 07:05:07 am »
You most likely have two XFRCEPT.dll files and the wrong one for ZOC is being used (may already be in use), though it is possible you have only one XFRCEPT.dll file but somehow it is the wrong one for ZOC.

Help for the error describes the system not being able to load code called by the application, which aligns to your suggestion.  What's odd is I also use ZOC v.4.15 and this library is not installed on my system.  I can't find any information on this dll.

Dariusz, consider using the WhichDLL utility, available on Alex Taylor's site, to gather additional information.

BTW: I like KDiff3 (for OS/2) much more than any Windows app.

I have been using vim on OS/2 with diffutils.  I see KDiff3 is easier to read and will use it as my GUI alternative.  Thanks for the tip.

Networking / Re: Samba 4.9.0 based client
« on: June 02, 2019, 06:31:23 pm »

or ndsmb plugin version not matching with Samba version (although already tried to change them) or else some implementation is only good for ARCA OS but not for OS2 Warp 4.52.

i have installed NetDrive on vanilla Warp 4.52 using the plugin "ndpsmb-2.2.0-Beta4-20140226.wpi".  You can find this on http://trac.netlabs.org/samba

To map a drive within NetDrive, I use the settings per the attached.

Hi,

I didn't have any further suggestions regarding your NetDrive issue.  I see Paul has offered his assistance so hopefully you will have this resolved shortly.
