Setup & Installation / Re: eCenter Window list widget
« on: September 05, 2013, 03:41:54 am »
I have used lswitcher for years and disposed of the winlist to save shared memory so I can't check but does the winlist have a way of setting certain applications to not show (lswitcher I know does).  If it does you may need to check to see if somehow everything is in that list at this point.

You might try:
DEVICE=D:\OS2\MDOS\VSVGA.SYS /int10textgrfxsafe
that parameter helps some issues with later video drivers.

Would WarpOverlay (WO) improve things?
Include it with eCS v2.2 by default!
At this point WO only works with some very old hardware (even compared to what SNAP supports) and the difference between WO and SNAP's overlay support is probably minimal.

Networking / Re: FTP

I should have mentioned that Firefox (and, I assume, SeaMonkey) will only download from FTP sites (and it does handle files greater than 2 GB), without some sort of add on to do uploading.
Seamonkey still shows having upload file under File - Upload File.

Andy, I've already tried ncftp and it appears to be stuck at the 2GB barrier on OS/2.  It did flag up a warning that it couldn't continue though which is more than the others did.
Just to verify I have the right information... you were using 3.2.5 without success?  I don't know that there were any previous OS/2 releases after the large file support was added.  I had 3.2.2 previous to this discussion myself and it wasn't introduced till 3.2.3.

Starting with 3.2.3 it supports large files but not sure on OS/2.

There may be others but IBM did put a set out on testcase that support greater than 2G but then closed the PMR as a permanent restriction and later released an updated FTP server/client that did not have the 2G updates in it.  I am not sure now where to find the >2g cable ones but they are available.

Setup & Installation / Re: UEFI & SecureBoot?

This is the x 3200  M3, so it has SAS. You can plug a SATA drive into the SAS slot. The machine is fine with it, and the drive appears in other OS. The SATA controller is the Intel PCH, which is supported, but support fails because of the above message. I know nothing about SAS, and I was surprised to see SATA connectors. Here is the PCI dump for the controller.

0000:01:00.0 SCSI storage controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS1064E PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS (rev 08)
SAS controller... I've worked off and on with trying to get the SAS drives in an X3650 to work.  My understanding is that SATA drives will work with a SAS controller because SATA is a subset of SAS.  I have gotten to where the eCS installer's drive check utility will see a drive (though not everything that is defined in the RAID BIOS) but no partition/lvm information and it has been unsuccessful in fixing the problem when told to do so.

I struggled with a UEFI system (IBM X Series) server, and eCS 2.2 beta simply does not recognize the SATA hardware. It fails even in compatibility mode with
Which model of X-series?  I run one old one that has SCSI drives but another slightly newer one (still rather old) will not work with SAS drives.  I haven't got one with actual SATA drives to test.

As there is not an OO4 installer, I decided to just swap it out so that if something needed to be there it would be.

Pete, you might try what I did... rename your OO3 directory and then recreate it and put the 004 files in it in the same locations that OO3 was in.  I did that just in case there were any ini entries that came into play.  Also, I put the oowps DLL in there so that it works like it did with OO3.

Pete,
Your error message is odd... it implies there is a 'program' directory under /OpenOffice4/Program somewhere. I don't see that here... maybe you set that up yourself? How did you install AOO?
Actually... it is the same program.  Notice, it is  \program\..\program  the .. takes it up a level from program and then back into program.  It looks odd but should work fine.

@David, I ended up deleting the OpenOffice directory that is at the level of program (I am surprised it is not under Home).
@Neil, not sure why you are not seeing it work, if I put Java160 in the path it finds it on its own... otherwise I was able to use the Add and find it.  I did rename my Java11 directory as it was sometimes being found and would then crash.

SOM 3.0 was released in Dec 1996 but never put into OS/2.  The beta actually had some advantages as some functionality was removed from what had been in the beta..  I had used the beta way back when under OS/2 but cannot find it on any disks here now.  In fact:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/h-search.php?sh=1&button=Search&key=som30&stype=all&sort=type_name&dir=%2F
was the release.

Try one more thing... do not use the ahci driver but leave it in ahci mode and see if danis506 can handle it.
