General Discussion / Re: What happened to Paul?

Thanks folks, it's brought me some comfort reading these messages. I'm on a good path now, maybe I'll be back porting some day (If I remember what to do lol)

Hi Paul, I fondly remember using your ports throughout the ecomstation era. You've done such great work and it kept my computer going.
So I do hope you just hang out with us here regardless if you decide to port more stuff or not:).

I still read os2world most days, so I'm usually lurking :)

Web applications / Re: Need memcached module for php7!

I'll try look at this, once Igor confirms he's looking for a module for PHP 7.4. Modules aren't generally compatible between PHP versions...

You'd also stand a higher chance of gaining my interest if you provided a pre-built library for libmemcache.

General Discussion / What happened to Paul?

Hi All,

I know I've been MIA for a while (thanks to those who noticed and reached out!).

Throughout 2025, I began to lose interest not just in OS/2, but with a lot of my other hobbies (including java programming for openHAB). At the same time, my general mood deteriorated. This all came to a head in September when I was diagnosed with quite severe depression. I'm now doing a LOT better, but it has been a rough 5 months. At this stage my ArcaOS box has been powered off some time - I think the last thing I built was something for Lewis back in September.

I cannot say at this time if I will return to ArcaOS - what I can say is that I've finally started enjoying extending some bindings for openHAB, and learning more about Java - so there is hope!

Just wanted to give the community an update.

Cheers,

Paul

Hardware / Re: Soundblaster Live 1024 drivers
« on: August 22, 2025, 11:38:29 pm »
I wanted to avoid UNIAUD, because I have big problems with my development machine.
I don't know, if it the driver or the HW in my T480, but I wanted to try "native" drivers.
OK..... but SBLive driver would be ok cos that's "native"....

looks like the emu10k1 driver in uniaud should support the ct4830 chipset
cs46xx driver in uniaud looks like it might support the Terratec

Earlier in the thread was a full zip, which hopefully includes the executables (ie https://smedley.id.au/tmp/openttd-14.1-os2-20250712.zip)

You might be overestimating my interest levels in getting midi working ;)

Seems OS/2 never supported the browser.... https://github.com/OpenTTD/OpenTTD/blob/release/13/src/os/os2/os2.cpp#L208

https://smedley.id.au/tmp/openttd-14.1-exe-os2-20250714.zip is a new openttd.exe that should fix music (if the sound hardware supports midi)

It's probably easy enough to backport the changes to allow the browser to work, same with the music code. Seems the music doesn't use SDL - I didn't look at the old code closely, but seems it calls the OS/2 api directly:
