Hi Paul,

20210103 debug runs without problems.

I attach the unimix -list and unimix - card files.

Still 3 Entries in PM Uniaud as before.

All the best!

Sigurd

Happy new year! Tested the 5.4.86-20210102-debug on my S1 Yoga 12. Works well.

But - as with all driver files before, only three controls are enabled, I guess it should be more of them.

Attach a picture and the list file.

Well done!

Sigurd

Hi, as it need more time to get the T480 to run again I meanwhile tested with my S1 Yoga 12 from Lenovo:

Version 20201228 works like a charm!

Hardware:
Lenovo Thinkpad S1 Yoga 12
Intel core i7 5th Generation
Soundcardinfo:
Card info for adapter 0:
  num: 0
  id: PCH
  driver: HDA-Intel
  name: HDA Intel PCH
longname: HDA Intel PCH at 0xf1204000 irq 22
  mixer: Conexant CX20751/2
  componenets: HDA:14f1510f,17aa503e,00100100

Software:
ArcaOS 5.06

Great work, Paul!!

I guess the "b" with the attached files is not right, I downloaded it from the link from OS4Users latest post.

Will try the 20121229b now and report. More information needed?

Hope this helps!

Sigurd

EDIT: 20201229b crashes with trap, See attachment please.

EDIT: 20201229 crashes with trap as well, See attachment please.

Quick update:

I built a driver based on the latest 4.19.x kernel - unfortunately I'm getting a TRAP 000E during boot that I need to debug.

I updated the code to 5.4.x - the code is compiling but I have around 10 missing symbols of functions that need to be added to the linux 'kernel'.

Hopefully I can resolve those over the next couple of days and see where we land. I keep hoping that in bumping the code levels things will start working :)

I'll have increased free time over the next couple of weeks over the Christmas/New Year break so will hopefully make some progress.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul,

good news!! I will try to get the T480 to run with OS/2 - ArcaOS  over the Christmas/New Year break as well, so I hopefully will be able to test and support. It depends on only one LCD cable that I expect to be delivered since the beginning of December from China. So it may happen, if not, I will come back with that hardware as soon as possible.

All the best!

Sigurd

Due to the Corona Virus Thomas Müller and me had to cancel the User Meeting in Cologne 2020 that had been scheduled on December the 12th 2020.

While we get the prepaid amount of money back from the Youth Hostel Thomas and me decided to donate it directly to Bitwise Works, so we round up the sum to 400 Euro and I just paid to Bitwise for the QT5 Development and to support their excellent work.

The next meeting in 2021 is already fixed: Saturday, November th 6th 2021, as allways in Cologne, same place  :)

All the best to all of you!

Hardware / Re: Multi core CPUs - how many are running > 4?
« on: November 23, 2020, 11:28:09 pm »
The T480 run with 4 Cores and 4 Threads very stable, CPU monitor showing 8 cores. ACPI quickly shuts down 7 from Version 3.14 on. Once needed it reenables as much as needed and shuts/throttle them down again once no more power is needed. Worked like a charm.

Hi Paul,

FYI: unfortunately I will not be able to test for a while, I had to change the internal SSD of the T480 to a NVme, so ARcaOS is gone on this device. I might bring back a SATA SSD but I am not sure when. Maybe meanwhile there will be a NVme Driver from Arca Noae and that would help as well. Sorry.

All the best.

Sigurd

Even if it is not much of help, the same trap here on the T480.

Unfortunately I do not have the possibility to grap a log file, but I think it is not necessary as others provided already!

Greetings and GOOD LUCK for your presentation Sigurd! : )

Unfortunately beginning is 02am DE GMT+1, so... too early for me to watch it live.
Question: Will these streams be saved, so one can watch them later on?

(Not sure anyway is reading/cares about these updates, but just trying to keep people informed on the status of this work)

Hi Paul,

I am very happy to see your progress and I could just repeat the words of Ianmanners, wich I can confirm in anyway!

To have sound on a Laptop with native ArcaOS/ OS/2 that was build in 2018 is great and with that you keep my motivation to still play around with OS/2 alive!!

All the best and thank you again!

Note: This build will NOT produce sound on HDA hardware....

However, I found some missing 'glue' and made progress. I still have some code wrapped around '#ifndef TARGET_OS2' statements to prevent traps....

What I'm interested in is whether the mixer is correctly detected or not - in particular for Sigurd as his hardware should now be supported.

I'll keep working on fixing the traps so we can actually get sound :)

https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-4.14.202-20201101.zip

AC97 hardware should continue to work....

Hi Paul,

yes, it does detect the mixer, REALTEK ALC 257

Good work!!

Thanks guys - I need to think about how best to proceed. At this stage, I think it's best to resurrect the logging that was broken around kernel 4.0 timeframe - I'm hoping that will elicit some clues as to why the mixer isn't being detected.

I'll post here when I have some news.

Hi Paul,

may be you can team up with "abwillis1", he helped me out with getting Uniaud to run on a Thinkpad X250.
