Hola *!

OK. Let's try via another more recent (2021-01-11) link:
  https://www.os2.org/viewtopic.php?t=2769&hilit=ePDF
It's all ,auf Deutsch' but there's a download link to ePDF 2.99-6 on the first post (https://www.os2.org/download/file.php?id=1701).

Note that Franck can be contacted via Facebook, at least.  ;) I don't see why he wouldn't want to see this gem uploaded to Hobbes.

As our German friends would say: ,Tchüß' .

Comments, Suggestions & Questions / Re: Hobbes (Files) Reoganization
« on: August 17, 2022, 03:22:02 pm »
Bonjour,

- "/pub/os2/util/file"            - Maybe, since some of this command line utilities may be realted to files

The tools mentioned are meant for files and directories, so "/pub/os2/util/file" would make sense.

Adding more directories to Hobbes wouldn't make sense, IMHO.

BTW, thanks, Martin, for the job done so far on this huge project.

Have a nice day.
Take care you all.

Bonjour,

I'll see how ThunderBird (under Linux) performs with GMail passed May 30th.
There seems to be a way to make it to work with Office 365 at some point:
  https://blog.programster.org/connecting-thunderbird-to-office-365-when-using-2FA
  https://kb.wisc.edu/helpdesk/page.php?id=102005
I've also been told there's a payware extension for ThunderBird.

The security @Work has been elevated for the IT guys in such a way I receive a code by SMS for every connection.
I now feel like I am working at IBM or something!  :P

For the ones who would like to keep on using the good old PMMail, it will be quite difficult.

Bonjour to all,

This message to inform you that PMMail, among other mail clients, can't access "outlook.office365.com" via POP/SMTP protocols (via Stunnel) anymore, due to the activation of two-factor authentication.
This will soon be the case for the access to GMail.com starting May 30th.

This marks  the end of using of PMMail for me. And this will force me to use the web mail of the providers :-\ and not on OS/2  :'(

I still have to find an alternative to ETeller and I'll probably phase out my old OS/2 (eCS) machine.

Have a nice day you all!

Hola Martin !

About file naming: I noticed the "SetBaud_1-0..zip" file with a double "." in Hobbes /pub/incoming this morning.
FWIW.

General Discussion / Re: Strange hobbes.nmsu.edu behavior.

Hey Guillaume
Does this do what you are wanting?
https://hobbes.nmsu.edu/?dir=%2F&stype=all&sort=type_date&search=%2F

Hi Andy!
Yes, this works better than what is provided by the available search button but for root only, it seems.

Curiously, this does not work from /pub/incoming, pub/java, pub/java/apps, ...
https://hobbes.nmsu.edu/?dir=%2Fpub%2Fincoming&stype=all&sort=type_date&search=
isn't sorted by date.

Something is apparently broken.

<shameless plug>Of course NDFS FTP plugin can show you the remote directory and allows you to sort it like you want with the available DIR arguments, but still.
Hi to Vitali Pelenyov, BTW.</shameless plug> ;)

Bonjour,
Instead of opening a new thread I prefer to dig up this one, since this can also be considered as a strange behaviour of Hobbes web interface.

I wonder if anyone here also noticed that since Hobbes went "SSL", the sort option doesn't seem to work anymore ("search=&stype=any&sort=date&dir=%2F"), especially the "sort by date".
Using ISO date format would be easier for this, but anyway I am sure that a good script can deal with a date string.  :P

OK. Some will tell me the date field doesn't mean anything with the All Ye Olde Archives posted recently, but still.

Have a nice day you all !

Bonjour to all,

I get were you are coming from.
One idea I have is the donate page on os2voice.org should be more clear. Right now if you go to the the homepage and click the sponsorship tab I don't see anything about donating to the browser or BWW.
Unless I am blind :).
I did find it on one of your posts here:
http://articles.os2voice.org/category/software/24-new-web-browser-for-os-2-is-with-reach.html
But why not make it more prominent and include it in the main navigation?

About the donation part of this thread.

This clearly reminds every of the need of a good marketing plan for a fundraising for any project. Marketing is surely a job by itself, and (un?)fortunately not mine.

Two other places may be mentioned for donations:
https://www.arcanoae.com/product-category/support-sponsoring/
https://www.bitwiseworks.com/shop/index.php?id_category=11&controller=category&id_lang=1

Notes :
  • The later web site being based in EU, it might be more appealing for a customer who lives this part of the world.
  • The "sponsoring units" are differently labelled on both sites  - It looks clearer on AracaNoae's online shop to me. But you will find Qt5 sponsoring units which is the base for any Qt5 programs like a browser.
  • A $55 donation should cost 50€ (via PayPal) to a EU resident using Arca Noae online shop. Of course, these donations do not benefit from the same tax advantages as those made for public interest organizations in some countries, and I don't know the amount of taxes applied in fine, but if you consider the number of fine softwares you get for that price and the amazing developers you support, that's a bargain.  ;)

We must all accept the we all have to live (survive for some), and that we must take care of ourselves in priority. We must find the right balance.

So, take care you all!

Bonjour to all,

This post won't be of any help here, but it reminds me of the (in)famous ConfigTool from Goran Ivankovic and Klaus Staedtler-Przyborski...

Those were the times.  ;)

Hi Paul from here as well!

[...]
"uniaud32-linux-3.16.85-20200814" works in a sense: it plays the startup sound in loop!
I reverted back to 2.02.06, since I needed to use my system.
[...]

Can you please upload the output of 'copy alsahlp$ alsa.log' - from any uniaud32 version - I just want to see what chipset you're running.

Cheers,

Paul

Please find attached "alsa-GG_20200814.txt" made with UNiAud v2.02.06 in use on this system.

Have a nice day!

Bonjour to all,

"uniaud32-linux-3.16.85-20200814" works in a sense: it plays the startup sound in loop!
I reverted back to 2.02.06, since I needed to use my system.

{ uniaudio (until 2.02.06) seems to run out of resource after many days of system uptime. No more notification sounds. Short WAV files (less than 1sec or so) can't be used as system sounds, for example. I wondered if 3.16.85 worked better... }

See you !

Hardware / Re: search for a PC for the next 10 years

Thanks Pete for the (quick) answer!

I indeed made a mistake in the specification of the mainboard: it's a MSI.  I just checked the invoice and corrected my original message.  Oh! I probably left one or two typos for you all to review, though.

So I should be on the "lucky path" with the motherboard.  I of course checked the NIC (Realtek RT 8111), since adding a good old 3COM PCI NIC isn't an option anymore. Wasn't that the good old time(r)?  :D

For the video, I deliberately chose a Sapphire Radeon HD 6450 that ought to support VESA standards, hopefully. And again it's fanless, so it's silent.

Well guys we'll see in a week (or a bit more due to the confinement). I just hope I'll find the time to test ArcaOS installation as quick as possible.
Some will say I could spend less time on #netlabs IRC.  I'd answer them just :P

Take care you all.
