Gotta say - I'm not sure how to interpret the above..... in particular the section I've highlighted in italics..............................

I do notice that you (Paul), sometimes take your time about investigating problems.

I shake my head at this comment.....

I started to write more but thought better of it.

Speaking only for myself, I appreciate all of the software you compile and take the time to listen to feedback on, even if I don't use a lot of it I know it contributes to keeping many people using OS/2.

I certainly would not expect you to do what you do unless you are happy to do it, in your own spare time, as it happens. If others want things to be simpler in installing, I see no reason that they cant spend some time to learn and give back to our community by creating, or helping to create installers and or documentation.

Thanks Martin and Ian, I appreciate the comments.

There is now a CUPS version 2.0.0, that I haven't managed to get going (close, but not quite there yet). It doesn't, yet, have a WarpIn installer, and there seem to be some bugs that haven't been worked out yet. It is one of Paul Smedley's projects, and he has the same 24 hour days that the rest of us are stuck with. Paul does so many things for the OS/2 world, that he tends to be a little slow at getting everything done, that people demand.

Gotta say - I'm not sure how to interpret the above..... in particular the section I've highlighted in italics..............................

Hi All,

I haven't had an opportunity yet to dust off the T60 and test this
locally, but I made a built of wpa_supplicant 2.3

The cross platform changelog is at
http://w1.fi/cgit/hostap/plain/wpa_supplicant/ChangeLog

Download available from
http://smedley.id.au/tmp/wpa_supplicant-2.3-os2-20141012.zip

Feedback appreciated before I upload this to my site.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi All,

I built a few updates today:
CUPS 2.0.0 - http://smedley.id.au/tmp/cups-2.0.0-os2-20141011.zip
cups-filters 1.0.61 - http://smedley.id.au/tmp/cups-filters-1.0.61-os2-20141011.zip

Feedback appreciated (also posted to the ecups-dev mailing list)

Cheers,

Paul

« on: October 09, 2014, 02:27:47 am »
The problem is now that there are some bugs in Image Magick and I need help on this side. I'm using IM as back-end.

I  already asked Paul but he has no time to fix these issues. So my question is: can anybody help out and get some things in Image Magick running? I have no skills in C development and I'm busy enough to work on the GUI and WPS integration.

Sorry I'd forgotten about this. I should have some time over the next few days. Cna you open a ticket at mantis.smedley.id.au describing the issues? That's a much better place than my inbox :)

Comments, Suggestions & Questions / Re: timeouts when posting
« on: October 07, 2014, 10:11:46 am »
Don't think it's a SeaMonkey problem but next time it happens I'll try Firefox.

My guess would be a PHP setting relating to session timeouts. I had a similar issue with my mantis site.

What is the current setting for session.gc_maxlifetime ?

The default according to http://community.sitepoint.com/t/php-sessions-keep-expiring-too-early/21183 is 24 minutes.

Dave - any idea how idea how long you'd been composing the post for when it timed out?

Utilities / Re: Convert INF to PDF
« on: September 30, 2014, 01:11:54 am »
Hi

I want to recover all the OS/2 Toolkit documents for EDM/2, since the links to "http://cyberkinetica.homeunix.net" are now dead.

So, I want to ask permission to IBM to republish, but first I need to convert INF files to PDF format, because nobody can read INF file (with the exception of us). Plus I think that PDF will be a better format to put on the web since it can be indexed by search engines, etc.

What do you recommend me to convert the INF OS/2 Toolkit documents to PDF? or does someone has already converted (maybe I missed that)?

I tried INF2HTML which is good, but I need to go to the next step and convert it to PDF.

Regards

Does http://www.warpspeed.com.au/book/books.htm offer the same information that was at http://cyberkinetica.homeunix.net ?

Cheers,

Paul

On ports that use those constants, I just define them, ie:
#ifdef __OS2__
#define SHUT_RDWR 2
#endif

Hardware / Re: Webcam Support for OS/2 and eCS!!
« on: August 08, 2014, 10:30:32 pm »
I have concluded :) the development and testing of my Webcam Support for OS/2 (and eComStation).  I have put it as WebSee10.zip and its source code as WebSee10s.zip both on my website and on hobbes. I have also put the latest version of my USB Resource Manager as usbres01.zip there.

I like to thank everyone involved.

Good job Wim!!!

Hardware / Re: HP 1600 and eCS 2.2 Beta?
« on: July 07, 2014, 10:09:58 pm »
eCUPS might work, but see: http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/color_laserjet/hp_color_laserjet_1600.html. It is a Linux page, but eCUPS is a Linux port, so the information should relate to your device.

For eCUPS see: http://trac.netlabs.org/ecups.

It will NOT work with CUPS. From that page:
"Driver Plugin Information:
This printer REQUIRES a downloadable driver plug-in. Use hp-setup to install the printer, and to download and install the plug-in. In general, required driver plugins are required for printing support. Driver plug-ins are released under a proprietary (non-open) license and are not part of the HPLIP tarball release."

Hi Pete,

Untested build of wpa_supplicant 2.2 - http://smedley.id.au/tmp/wpa_supplicant-2.2-os2-20140618.zip

Does not seem to want to work here - xwlan gives a couple of unexplained beeps and cannot connect.
Reinstating the older 2.0 gets connectivity back.

I finally got around to testing locally, found the same issues, and fixed them :)
