Setup & Installation / Re: LVM Error Codes - Documentation?
« on: August 22, 2019, 06:49:32 pm »
Ok, I did the part -w:t -t- and it did not flag any errors. Got a bunch of warning messages about partitions after the 1023 cylinder boundary or crossing the 1023 boundary, but no errors shown.

I've got an older (V11) registered version of DFSEE. So I might go that route. But first I'm going to migrate all the partitions off the drive, wipe the drive and then try an install again.

Setup & Installation / LVM Error Codes - Documentation?
« on: August 21, 2019, 11:57:47 pm »
Is there a list of what the various LVM Error codes indicate?

I'm trying to build a new Maintenance Partition (ArcaOS 5.03) on on an existing System. When I try the install, I get a popup about LVM Error 10 when I try and select the new partition for the new install.

Booting to the main system (ArcaOS 5.01) and executing LVM Reports invalid Partition Data on Disk 2, but running DFSEE V11 does not report any issues with it. So I'm wondering a couple of things.

1) What the 10 telling me (Invalid Partition Info)?
2) Is there documentation on LVM Engine Error Codes?
3) How to figure out whats wrong with the partition info, since DFSEE does not report any errors?

TIA.

I had a similar bizarre error with PmPatrol several months ago. It turned out that I had made a typo in the LibPath statement when adding my personal tools directory.

Hardware / Re: T540P Touch-Pad Button Issue

Which mouse driver are you using? Here on my T42, the IBM mouse driver works better then Amouse. The T42 does have separate mouse buttons, both for the trackpoint and touch-pad with the touch-pad disabled in BIOS.

Looks like the default ArcaOs install is the AMouse driver. I'll switch it out and see what kind of difference that makes.

Yeah, I really like the separate buttons on the T4x/T6x series. Don't really like the feel and tactile feedback for the mouse or keyboard on the T540P. I understand its probably cheaper, but I like the old thinkpad keyboards over the ones in the T430/T540 series.

Hardware / T540P Touch-Pad Button Issue
« on: January 18, 2019, 06:46:18 pm »
I'm built a multi-boot system (Win 10, ArcaOS 5.03) on a T540P. Everything works as expected so far. The one issue I have is with the mouse buttons on the touch-pad. I have disabled the touch-pad portion of the interface via the bios and just use the trackpoint for mouse movement. At times when I try and do mouse clicks with the touch-pad, it causes the mouse jump all over the screen. The jumps generally seem to go up to the top left of the screen.

This unit has the type of touch pad where the mouse buttons are not a separate part of the unit. The left/right mouse buttons are simply activated by pressing the top of the pad where some raised bumps are.

Now this unit functions exactly as expected under Win 10, with no mouse jumping.

Applications / Re: Convert Partition to VDI
« on: January 18, 2019, 06:39:23 pm »
I used the zip method described earlier to get my hard partition converted to a VDI. Using SYSINSTX to get it bootable did not work, so I simply added Air-Boot from the ArcaOS Installer. It takes a couple of seconds long to get booted, but I can live with that. I may fool around some more and see if I can get it directly boot.

Now I can proceed with my project to virtualize a couple of my physical machines to reduce the space they take up.

TIA.

Applications / Convert Partition to VDI

I've got an ArcaOS partition on a machine, that I want to convert to a VDI. Now this is a 3GB partition on a 250GB SSD. I've booted into Win10 and used DfSee to create an image file of the partition of interest. I used VBoxManage to convert that to a VDI, but when I attach this VDI to a virtual machine and attempt to boot it, I get the following

"Invalid code for JFS 0000:0000"

I booted into DfSee and it seems to see the VDI as a Large Floppy Format. It reports there are no partitions on the disk.

Anyone ever done something like this? I've played around with DfSee trying to get MBR, or boot code, or converted to a disk/partition, but no luck so far.

Applications / Re: PmPatrol - Doscall1.Dll Load Error
« on: January 17, 2019, 01:39:49 am »
Ok, I figured out what happened. When I added my Personal Tools set to the LibPath, I made a typo It had .F:\Tools\Dll; instead of .;F:\Tools\Dll;

For what ever reason that caused the problems with PmPatrol.

Thanks to all for the assistance and sorry for the wild goose chase.

Cheers,

Are the folks that report it working, executing the SMP or the UNI Kernal?

I installed the program into a VM that is running the UNI Kernal and it works fine. It seems to be something related to the DOSCALL1.DLL installed with the SMP Kernal for me.

I'm going to try a fresh install and see what happens.

Thats the version I'm running. Looking at the contents of the .zip all the dates/sizes match up. I should mention that my ArcaOs is V5.0.3.

My DosCall1.Dll is 132401, 11-24-2011.

This is on a fresh install of ArcaOs V5.0.3

Applications / PmPatrol - Doscall1.Dll Load Error

I'm in the process of building a new ArcaOS Laptop (T540p) and starting to load up my old applications. I've installed PmPatrol, but it fails to start. A quick CHKDLL32 shows that DOSCALL1.DLL can not be loaded because orginal 154 (DosQProcStatus) could not be resolved.

Any ideas on how to get around this? Is it ticket time with Arca Noae?

Thanks

What is the difference?

seamonkey-2.42.9esr_r3_O2.en-US.os2
seamonkey-2.42.9esr_r3_s.en-US.os2

And where might these be found?

Applications / Re: CUPS User ID and Password
« on: November 07, 2018, 12:49:09 am »
After updating everything I could think of that was related to CUPS, including klusrmgr, I still could not get past the user id and password prompt.

But when I assigned a password to root, and saved the file in klusrmgr, I could then get past the user id and password prompt.  And CUPS started sending stuff to my printer. Very nice.

Thanks for the help
Doug,

Is this for your HP M452 that you referenced over in my thread?

One of the things I noticed after the upgrade of CUPS was that the HP M452 was added to the list of supported printers in the selection dialogue. I checked on an old eCS V2.2 system and the CUPS there does not list the M452, but once upgraded it now available. So that gives me some hope that it might work.

Doug,
I'd be interested in hearing your reply to the Q about the hplib package from Pete.

Applications / Simple CUPS Support Printer Quesion
« on: November 05, 2018, 07:56:35 pm »
My venerable HP2550 has finally died. Now I'm in the process of looking for a new color laser printer. I just updated my CUPS installation to the latest version. So my question is:

"Are all the printers shown in the 'Create CUPS Printer" selection list supported?"

I'm looking at getting a HP M452dn, as that seems to best meet my requirements and price point. The printer dialogue lists the M452 as an available printer. There appear to be several flavours of M452xx. The various xx after M452 seem to denote various connectivity options. But the dn model is the one I want (wired Ethernet).

This will be my first foray into the CUPS world, as my 2550 has been a faithful printer for going on 15+ years, but alas its finally died.

TIA
