Title: Multiple "." breaking association
Post by: Meeko on February 19, 2015, 10:28:30 pm
Many files on Hobbes have names with multiple dots, like firefox-24.8.1.en-us.os2.beta_3-wpi.wpi. Has anyone made a utility to get the WPS to see these files as .wpi, .zip, etc.?

Erich,

You could try Henk Kelder's Association Editor (Hobbes.nmsu.edu file assoed212.zip). From that you can add associations like *.*.*.zip or *.*.*.wpi etc. to your favorite Unzip program or WPI viewer.

Desktop Wizard - Been using it for the last 20 years !

http://os2notes.net/os2dwizard.html

For unzip - just define the path you want to use:  c:\var\temp\Unzip   Now right click on any ......zip file and now you don't have to worry about the dots !  I was asking around about adding rar, z7 (it's open source now) and other formats, but a course nothing :(

For zip - now drap and drop is possible for files & folders too. Just drag & drop a file on a zip and it's auto added to the zip file.

There's a million settings in dWizard, just copy exactly what I have set - see the settings pics in the review.

Hi Erich

Open the Properties notebook for the program that you want to use to open eg firefox-24.8.1.en-us.os2.beta_3-wpi.wpi (that would be either Warpin or WPIView I guess) and on the Association page enter details that you want supported eg for the above *.*.*.*.*.*.WPI

Also I think the best way is to track down the undot.cmd file (in the yahoo ecom group files section ?).

Create a programs object for it and add to the Xworkplace (Folder actions > menu).

That way you can easily undot every type of file in your download folder at anytime (had this problem with torrent files that used [ ] & ... ) !

can someone email me undot.cmd and who wrote it ?
I'll see if its ok to also put it on [ian at] os2site.com.

I've had several yahoo accounts last decade but they kept cancelling them due to
complaints (no, I have no idea what I'm guilty of and don't care) so I don't have
access to the files section.

The author is Rob Hamerling. It is on his website. http://www.robh.nl/zip/undot.zip

Thx Wim !

Actually you're not far from the truth on that statement Ian ! I really messed up the server permissions & files last night, so I just deleted the server, it only takes 55 seconds to restore, lol - forgot to reload the undot file.

I must be a genius taking on Linux - on the other hand my OS/2 server sitting next to me hasn't given me one problem :) with the same setup (Amp + Owncloud).

OS/2 and OwnCloud? I got it to run, sort of, but it was terrible slow. Not chance to get CalDAV sync working with it.

Do you have some how to to get OwnCloud running on OS/2? Which versions are you using? OwnCloud, Apache, Python, ..... and so on.

Owncloud 7.04 with Apache/2.2.29 (OS/2) PHP/5.5.11 - very easy install with this version just add the needed extension (it tells you) !  The web interface sllow but the Win & Linux apps work - Bitwise plugin would be great (I have Samba installed, so that works like a client) !

I'm writing about it soon - version 8 is out but a quick check on the install didn't work :( I didn't try DAV (do we have it /w OS/2 ?). I dropped it after adding it to Os2notes.net with Linux, but going over it again for my write up on it.

UPDATE:   version 8 does work !!!

By the way, for people interested just in CardDAV-CalDAV, SabreDAV works very well on OS/2 server.

Thanks Wim and Greggory,
Seeing Rob's name reminds me I still haven't dusted off some of my processor Evaluation kit's.

Thanks Gabriele - Just what I was looking for I'll see how it works with Owncloud !

The WPS fix for filenames with multiple dots was added to eCS in 2009. eCS 2.0 is the first version that contains the fix.
