Virtualization / Re: ArcaOS in VirtualBox and mouse.

Not sure what version of vbox you are using, and on what Host OS?

Only similar problem I can find, with a bit of googling, is that within vbox, this kind of problem could be caused by your ArcaOS vm settings, display, monitor count being set to anything other than 1.

You can also test a brand new install of ArcaOS (from your registered ISO) into a new vm, and don't fiddle with the vm settings too much, until you know if that new test vm has the mouse issue or not. ArcaOS comes with a set of vbox drivers built-in, so you should be able to test the issue right away.

Hope this helps ...

This sub-thread is yet another good reason to use XWP-Lite/ANXWP: it comes preconfigured.

In XWP-Full, you need to check "XWorkplace Installation->XWorkplace Setup->Features->Mouse and Keyboard features->Enable global object hotkeys"

I do not have Dynamic Icons installed as, quite simply, it is broken.

How, exactly, is it broken (vs. merely deficient)? I've been using it for 6+ years and it WFM. There's a new version awaiting release that fixes most of the problems I found and uses a lot less memory. Hopefully it will work for you.

I wonder if that is causing the problem you are seeing?

How, exactly, would an add-on that replaces icons with bitmaps interfere with a keyboard feature? So, no, it isn't the cause (see below).

When you are saying "no mouse", do you mean a pointer?
The game captures the mouse and no pointer, and no crosshair is shown.
If you press ESC to get into the game menu, then you get a mouse pointer again.

If you can, use cmake. It makes life easier.

A copy of my buildenv from April  last year is at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VPR-z1EPTzrkYwrsvrRw3UOSQ_v7yZV_/view?usp=drive_link - nothing significant would have changed since then...

Wow Paul, thanks a lot for this pointer.
I've already started porting some rather simple applications like normalize, moving forward to SDL apps as soon as possible. I'm finding myself sometimes stuck in configure script troubles like trying to compile some C dummy code to check for gcc and failing, but I'm starting to understand these little quirks.

Hi Martin

The Hotkeys tab does not exist until a Function key has been created and Set as an Object hotkey - creating LWin and Setting it as the Object hotkey for Downloads should have created the Hotkeys tab.

Dynamic Icons is, I think, installed from PNGDESK.WPI so use Warpin to uninstall.

Hi again

I got similar results on real hardware (Thinkpad T14s). It displays the same way. With the WASD keys I can not exactly notice movement, I think the hammers moves a little bit.
But it is nice to see progress.
