It's part of the coreutils package. I thought it was installed by default, but perhaps not. Possible you have a broken install of it, which can be fixed by reinstalling.
Look in your @unixroot\usr\bin directory to see if it there.

I tried through ANPM didnt seem to work.  Is there a way to uninstall and start over?

That's weird, what does touch --version report? Perhaps you have another touch in your PATH? That looks like the wrong error for a coreutils touch.

I get an error when I do touch --version.. Is this installed by default or do I have to install something with yum?

touch new.file creates a new file here and it's how I usually create one with file commander.
Code: [Select]
Directory of H:\tmp\test

11-26-23  3:06p         <DIR>      0 ----  .
11-26-23  3:06p         <DIR>      0 ----  ..
        2 file(s)           0 bytes used
                    4,755,963 K bytes free

[H:\tmp\test]touch new.file

[H:\tmp\test]dir

Volume in drive H has no label.
The Volume Serial Number is 4558:45C3.
Directory of H:\tmp\test

11-26-23  3:07p         <DIR>      0 ----  .
11-26-23  3:06p         <DIR>      0 ----  ..
11-26-23  3:07p             0    124 a---  new.file
        3 file(s)           0 bytes used
                    4,755,963 K bytes free

[H:\tmp\test]touch --version
touch (GNU coreutils) 8.31

touch new.txt gets me

SYS0002: The system cannot find the file specified. "C:\temp\new.txt"

Greetings,

I am wondering if I can (from CLI) create a file?  In linux I would just say touch newfile, then I could nano and edit it.  On Arca I use file commander but I do not see a way to create a file (I could have missed it), touch does exist Ive noticed in Arca but does not act in how I would expect.  So basically I want to be able to create a new file in a directory using the CLI.

Rick

Greetings,

My computer is slow enough that I am able to see a window briefly pop up with system somethings not loading.  Maybe that could shed some light on this issue?  Where can I hunt for system error logs?

Also on another machine restore connections acts differently.  It does not have a connection error at boot it asks for connection password at boot then restores connection.

Regards,

Rick

Pardon me for jumping in. I have the same problem connecting to my ArcaOS-based SAMBA server.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it gives the message "Failed to establish 1 connection". Then Details says "Failed to mount "GARBOPEEP\D" on "R:\". The specified server cannot perform the requested operation. My systems use DHCP. I have saved the password.

Rather than using the startup folder to restore connections, I have tcpexit.cmd with "F:\USR\BIN\CONNECT.EXE /restore"

Neil does this seem to work for you?  Whatever changed for me came with 5.1.  I have the exact error msg's you are getting so it appears to be a timing issue?

Greetings,

Setting static IP did not change anything.  Still errors at boot and easily connects by clicking restore connection.  How would I go about reinstalling just that package?

Just out of curiousity, are you using DHCP?

It's possible that restoring connections might fail if you haven't acquired an IP address yet.

I could assign that machine a static ip and retest it.

Greetings,

I have tried every which way I can, it fails to connect on reboot until I open arcamapper and click restore connections, then it connects just fine.

BTW, the "authentication concepts" section of the ArcaMapper guide, and the Credential Manager section, provide some (hopefully useful) information.

When I look at the active credentials after I manually restore the connection, my credentials say valid until shutdown?  Not sure if that is what it is suppose to look like, none the less it still errors on reboot that it could not connect to the share until I open arcmapper and restore connection?

Do any of you know what MSGAPI32 is?  After restoring my software post 5.1 upgrade, throws a msgapi32 error and I cannot seem to get around it?  I have reinstalled the software and just used backed up data.

Hello

I also found this file with MSGAPI32.DLL - http://annex.retroarchive.org/cdrom/cotc-4/OS2/SQDEV200.ZIP
"Squish/Maximus Message Api, in Addition to A Specification for the Squish File Format and Information on Designing Feature .Dlls For"

Rick, do you run some BBS software?

Regards

I do and I just solved what was going on thank you to everyone that was looking.  It turned out to be an issue with my BBS mailer and tosser, not Arca!

Regards,

Rick

Also, when you choose to save a connection, select the restorable connection option on the save dialog. The same dialog also gives you the option of saving your password, although for security reasons this is unchecked by default. If you don't save the password, you'll be prompted to enter it at startup. (You only have the enter the password once if multiple connections use the same credentials.)

I designed it that way because I've worked in a number of environments which are highly security-conscious, and as a result I've largely internalized the "secure by default" way of thinking. As noted, you can save the password along with the connection, but I only recommend doing that if you have full, private control over the computer.

BTW, since the client is based on NetDrive, you can also use the ndctl option to save and restore connections automatically - this basically has the same effect as saving all connections along with their passwords. (This involves hand-editing ndctl.cfg and setting the PersistentVolumeConfiguration option. Again, this is not considered secure if other people may have access to the computer.) Don't do this if you use the ArcaMapper 'restore connections on startup' option, because if you do it'll end up trying to restore connections twice.

I have done it this way I believe, it still gives me an error when it reboots that it couldnt connect to the share... I will have another look at it later.

Rick

Greetings,

Prior to 5.1 I was able to auto connect to my NAS on reboot, with 5.1 I have to add credentials and it says they are only valid until shutdown so when I reboot it fails to connect.  Is there something different with 5.1?  How to I keep the credentials after reboot so it connects reboot.

Regards,

Rick
