Hi Eugene, is playing sound on YouTube back to working for you?

Hi Martin, go to Tools-->Downloads, which opens the downloads page. At the top of the page you can set the Download Path.

Hi Ivan

I just tried to look up the ThinkCentre M900 Tiny and Lenovo has it as 'Withdrawn' which usually means there have been problems with manufacture which could explain the problems you are having.

For  what I had seen "'Withdrawn" means that is not longer for sale or since it was released long ago it no longer has support (parts, warranty, newer drivers, firmware updates, etc). It does not means it had problems or defects.

I'm now using a M910S, which I believe was the replacement for the 900 series and also withdrawn due to age, it's from 2018. It's very OS/2, or rather AOS compatible, even has 3.41 GB of available memory.

Try "yum reinstall coreutils" on the command line. Report the output.

It's part of the coreutils package. I thought it was installed by default, but perhaps not. Possible you have a broken install of it, which can be fixed by reinstalling.
Look in your @unixroot\usr\bin directory to see if it there.

That's weird, what does touch --version report? Perhaps you have another touch in your PATH? That looks like the wrong error for a coreutils touch.

touch new.file creates a new file here and it's how I usually create one with file commander.
Code: [Select]
Directory of H:\tmp\test

[H:\tmp\test]touch new.file

Volume in drive H has no label.
The Volume Serial Number is 4558:45C3.

[H:\tmp\test]touch --version
touch (GNU coreutils) 8.31

After updating my computer (Thinkcenter 910s), when Thunderbird gets a message, it plays the system warning sound, currently garden\gar_warn.wav. Now the sound keeps repeating until I reboot. Other sounds sound fine. Downgraded to

Programming / Re: Qt6 Application Testing
« on: November 25, 2023, 05:57:46 pm »
Testing running simplebrowser as "simplebrowser --single-process-mode", first try gave me a trap 3 breakpoint crash. So I closed SeaMonkey and retried. 2nd try gave me the unable to write to disk errors like David had so I deleted \home\.cache\QtExamples\simplebrowser\ and 3rd time was a charm.
Youtube displayed fine, playing VP9 videos worked fine, AV1 videos hung after a few seconds with the browser still working, could go back to the main page. Exiting I see this on the console,
Code: [Select]
[92:27:1125/] Quota SQLite error: code 779 errno 0: database disk image is malformed sql: UPDATE buckets SET last_modified = ? WHERE origin = ? AND type = ? AND name = ?

So amongst other problems, an issue with sqlite? It may be the cause of the not able to write errors

Thanks for giving PortableGL a try... the example you posted works well here - very smooth render. Hope you can get a gomp version working too...can't believe you got something so fast!

Well it seems gomp is not completely implemented in any of our recent GCC builds, old 4.4.6 does have gomp.dll but is to old to compile the code. Have to get Paul involved.
I ran into another weird problem. The first examples I built, including what I posted, were debug builds and most gave me 10-15 frames a second. I tried the optimized build, which basically added -O3 to the CFLAGS, and it slowed down to 0.1 to 0.15 frames a second, the sphereworld never finished drawing before I gave up. Trying other optimizations such as -O2 or -Os had the same results, -Og (optimize and keep debugging working) did result in perhaps a 50% speedup.
The work in progress is at
Even at the best, it is C and C++ code which is going to be limited compared to using simd instructions and perhaps assembly code. Linux actually uses LLVM to create a JIT (just in time) compiler for software 3D for old video cards using the VBE driver. It is still slow for a 3D desktop.
Still adding software OpenGL/Vulkan support to SNAP or Panorama would likely be much more doable then writing drivers for different cards

Utilities / Re: ArcaOS Time Sync Problems
« on: November 25, 2023, 01:25:31 am »

I'm testing the issue. I'm trying to remember what happen on the ArcaOS 5.1 installation. Maybe I installed with a different time zone and after trying to fix it with "Clock Sync", it did not work.

I followed Dave's advice and put "SET TZ=GST5GST". On the next reboot my clock was fine and "Clock Sync" no longer gave me this error.

Do you think this is a bug with "Clock Sync" that is putting only SET TZ=GST5 on my config.sys when it should put "SET TZ=GST5GST" ?

Looking at the Posix standard, it seems that GST5 or perhaps GST+5 should work. Looking at our headers, settz() etc is on the todo list while it is implemented in EMX which the EMX C Library Reference also says only the TZ1 (GMT5 in your case) part is mandatory. So it does seem like a bug that Clock Sync was not happy with GMT5, perhaps try GMT+5.

Well with some makefile editing and changing <SDL.h> to <SDL2/SLD.h> much of the examples compile. Seems Bitwise didn't compile in gomp into GCC so going to have to use one of Paul's GCC builds for some of the examples. Here's one that didn't need gomp. Needs SDL2, exit with ALT-F4 as it catches the mouse

It looks interesting and should just work for SDL2. Reading the readme, there is also which is C++ and uses simd so should be faster (and perhaps buggier on our platform), looks like more work to port though.
