Applications / Re: FF and TB not running at the same time.
« on: July 27, 2016, 03:55:17 pm »
Thank you for your interest in my problem.

Now I have reinstalled FF (38.2.1) and TB (38.6.0) .
Things are different but not solved:

I can start FF when TB is running. I can not start TB when FF is running. There is no error messages, but a TRP file is created. Nothing in the POPUPLOG.os2.
I can from FF select the command EmailLink from the File button and the "New email" from TB opens and let me mail the link til someone.

The TRP file doesn't tell me anything so here I need help.

I have also looked up the cookies.sqlite and places.sqlite with the results seen in the attachments. No corrupt here.

Applications / FF and TB not running at the same time.
« on: July 19, 2016, 08:45:31 pm »
The problem has nothing to do with "run!"
I am running TB 31.8.0 and FF 38.2.1
I can start each of them if the other is not running. If FF is running and I try to start TB nothing happens. If I try to start FF when TB is running I get this message:
"The application has been updated, but your version of SQLite is too old and the application cannot run."
If I then run ANPM to update SQLite. The message is than There is no newer version.
Then I try to delete SQLite using ANMP. The message this time is a long list of packages including Python and RPM and a message: You have selected to uninstall at least one package which is required for package management framework to function. This operation cannot proceed.
I then look into the content of SQLite (using ANPM). It lists only sqlite3.exe, sqlit3.dll, readme and sqlite3.1(without extension). I thought these would be the parts that would be uninstalled, but ANPM would do a deeper cleaning.

Any suggestions of how to proceed?

The first mail with attachment after rebooting was OK, the next not. While including the attachment the cpu-meter shows about 100% utilization for a few seconds and then crashes.
What to try now?

Thank you.
Now it is OK.

This is new. I never seen it before, but it happens to every attachment. The only information I have is from the POPUPLOG.OS2

Setup & Installation / How to extend the size of the swapper file
« on: March 16, 2016, 01:48:48 pm »
When I run Scribus with a document with a "lot" of images I get the error message: QImage: out of memory, returning null image. When running Scribus I also can see the available memory during the process. Normally the shared memory starts with about 160 MB, but ends (while loading the document) with 0 MB. So yes: Out of memory.
I thought that when this happened OS2 would use the swapper file, but the size of the swapper file does not change. I then changed the CONFIG.sys setting from SWAPPATH=E:\OS2\SYSTEM 2048 2048 to SWAPPATH=E:\OS2\SYSTEM 16384 2048, rebooted and checked the size. It was still 2048 kB. The Property book shows that the file is used. As I have about 4000 MB physical memory and 2400 MB virtual memory that should not be a problem.
Can anyone help?

Utilities / SYS0005: Access denied
« on: January 10, 2016, 03:27:13 pm »
I am trying to delete a folder with lots of sub folders from an external backup disk (FAT32).  That works fine until I get an "SYS0005: Access denied" error message for one of the sub folders. All of the files in that sub folder is deleted, but the sub folder itself is not deleted, nor are the folders at higher levels. No attributes are set for the folder.
Another message is also displayed: Deleting objects... Collecting objects... Target: (that is empty), and at last a progress bar just stopping at 0%.
The folders was created with the backup program Easy Sync. The program crashed during the backup process while processing a JPG file. The file was partly copied to the backup drive and into the folder with the error message. I deleted that file manually, ok. And I now wonder if there is some "left overs" from that file that destroys the delete process.

How to delete it?

Setup & Installation / Downward sliding icons
« on: November 24, 2015, 09:48:35 pm »
This is not a new problem, but I thought it was over when I installed eCS 2.1. It was for some time and then it suddenly started again. Now after having installed eCS 2.2 one and a half years ago it starts again. I did not realize it at first because the downward sliding is smaller then before and I can't remember I have installed any special software that could be the reason for this. But anyway it is annoying.
Does anyone know any solution to the problem?

Applications / Re: What is missing
« on: September 14, 2015, 11:32:01 pm »
Thank you Pete.
I installed the version you have in your answer to me, and now all error messages are gone. May be it is because I now am using libc066, but that was not in the read me file.
But I still can't scan. Running Scanimage > scan.pnm  gives the error message scanimage: sane_read: Error during device I/O .
The scan.pnm file contains:
P6
# SANE data follows
638 877
255

The debugoutput.txt contains a message: [sanei_usb] libusb_scan_devices: could not get configuration for device 0x04a9/0x1908 at 001:007 (err -1) (my scanner).
That is strange because the Sane-pixma.5 document in http://www.sane-project.org/man/sane-pixma.5.html says explicitly  USB scanners will be auto-detected and require no configuration.

Any ideas?

I have been struggling with Sane and scanning with my CanoScan 9000F for a long time. I now know that it is working for other people. I think that it is something I am missing in my installation, something that Sane depends on, but I don't understand the messages I get.
I'm running the program scanimage -L that should detect my scanner, and it does, but with a lot of messages. If I then try to scan running  scanimage >scan.pnm I get the same messages, and off course no result.
So, the question is if anybody can tel me what I have to do.

Here is the displayed result from the processes.

Setup & Installation / Can't install yum
« on: July 07, 2015, 01:09:21 pm »
I recently replaced eCS 2.1 by eCS2.2. I then wanted to install YUM. I run RPM-YUM-BOOTSTRAP-1.3.WPI. That part seemed to go well. Next step was to run Yum Bootstrap Console. Then I got this output:

1. Make sure you have an active Internet connection.

2. Type "yum install yum" in the command prompt below.

3. Wait until YUM downloads the base packages and installs itself.
   This may take some time.

4. Reboot!

5. Have nice yumming!

Repository setup
        package os2-release-00-2.oc00.noarch is already installed
package netlabs-rel-0.0.0-4.oc00.i386 (which is newer than netlabs-rel-0
.0.0-2.oc00.i386) is already installed
Testing internet connection: "yum repolist"...

lbacks
    gpgca_import_func = self.getCAKeyForRepo
AttributeError: 'YumBaseCli' object has no attribute 'getCAKeyForRepo'

And that is the only output I get whatever I try.
What do I have to do?

Hardware / Re: Unexeptable printer speed.
« on: July 01, 2015, 11:55:14 pm »
Yes Alex.
It looks like  the problem only happen with Lucide. It was difficult to find out because I have one document, produced with Scribus, that I ought to print out in 100 copies. Scribus produce a PDF file that gave me all the trouble. Printing it from Win 8 was a dream.
I now have printed an ODT document from OpenOffice 4.  Very good. I then exported the same document as a PDF file and printed it from Lucide. That was an other story. Lucide printed one copy and then told me that the printer was offline - every time, and that was not true. I therefor couldn't really measure the time between copies. But the time between each page was much longer than when printing from OO. There is also a problem with Lucide that it is impossible to set the correct margins, it selects its own. Therefor the question now is if I should install CUPS and use another PDF program/viewer.

The HELP text for SLPR Port settings has a lot of options for communicating with a printer, but most of those fields are not in the ports properties setting. Some of them should boost the performance, but is not available.
In OS2 we have the option to print a file directly by using the right mouse button while pointing at the file. I can then print a Post Script file directly and the result is very good. But there is a problem, I don't have the option to print more than one copy. That is a pity.

Thank you Ivan for all your efforts.

This printer has enough memory: 197 MB Ram and 360 MB hard disk. Rom is 5 MB. That means that the printer normally will not run out of memory.
The printing speed itself is about as in Win8. That means that the time from the start of printing of one page till the end of printing of the same page is about the same. It is the time BETWEEN the pages and copies that is the problem.
I print PS-files directly whit good quality in eCS by using right mouse button and select print. But I can't select to print more than one copy. I should like to try to do the same in Win8, but there isn't any right mouse button selection for printing. It is removed. I have to try to find out how I can do that and see if there is a difference between eCS and Win 8.
