Has anyone looked at how hard it would be to add USB Joystick support to SDL? I know next to nothing about it except a little experience with old style joysticks.
Seems basic support would be 2 axis and 2 button support, for many games even joypad support where a couple of buttons and the axis is basically binary or trinary, would be nice.
I ask because I recently revisited Rocks'N'Diamonds (our SDL mixer needs mod support), which reminded me how much more fun it was to play with a joypad rather then the keyboard.

Hi

I have a noob question about SDL development. For games that had been developed with SDL 1x, is it possible to recompile those with SDL 2.x? or all the game code (like functions calls, etc) will need to be changed to use the SDL 2.x instead?

Quickly looking, it seems the video handling has changed, things like no more full screen, rather a large window, perhaps with no menu etc. And the keyboard input also has changed, might mostly affect Unicode, along with changes in the event queue. Seems a lot of games are focused on the hardware rendering.
This is the page I read, https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/86368-sdl-1x-vs-sdl-2/

But in BWWs version, I fixed an init error in the display structures, which should be applied to Digis version, if not already done.

I didn't find your fix.

Thanks, guess I'll try to build it.

You'll probably need to link them before ncurses. Assuming you're using a makefile, try make LDFLAGS=-ltinfo

I did mean closer to 10 years old. Unluckily I can't remember the exact models but I've had a couple of ATI cards that with Panorama, somewhat worked with DOS.
Best might be to wait for AOS 5.1

Is it possible to update the video card? Most aprox 10 year old ATI cards I've used at least handle full screen DOS sessions, often also being capable of using ALT-HOME to become windowed.

Try deleting the cookies from OS2World? In SeaMonkey go to about:data. Firefox seems to have removed its cookie handling.

What about full screen DOS sessions? Could also try opening a full screen DOS session and do CTRL-HOME and see if that is a workaround.

Hmm, seems I had already downloaded that file last November but never installed it. This does fix the CPU issue.
Thanks

I chose Bitbucket as it supported Mercurial at the time and besides being a CPU hog, worked fairly well. Then they got bought out by Alsation and went downhill, eventually not only dropping Mercurial but also deleting all Mercurial repositories instead of setting them read only. Also at some point, uploading broke, even on other platforms with up to date browsers.
Now all these sites are implementing Google Web components and Custom Elements with no fallbacks, only supporting the latest 2 versions of a select number of browsers.

Thanks, installed fine with the folder on the desktop.
One problem I see, with both versions, is that it seems to keep one core busy, sometimes spread out to all 4 cores being partially busy. Hate to run it with only one core and even like this, don't want to leave it open. Perhaps only my system with this?

Assuming that other Qt5 apps run ok? There were issues with one of the DLLs from the 2019 release causing excessive CPU usage.....

Hmm, hearts seems to do the same. This is with all the QT5 dlls from netlabs-rel

It's pretty broken now, even with a new profile. Not surprising as JavaScript gets updated and more sites depend on the Google crap and customElements. Too many sites also only target the last 2 releases of a limited set of browsers. Reading the SeaMonkey newsgroup, it's a problem with the latest releases on quite a few sites, even some like Youtube which still works fine here, as well go browsers such as PaleMoon Brave and other forks.
SeaMonkey's newsgroup is now at alt.com.software.seamonkey, Firefox and Thunderbird are nearby as Mozilla has dropped their newsgroups.

To generate code for i686, CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS --march=i686, likewise --march=pentium4 for Pentium 4.
Ultimately for your own use, --march=native.
