They should load assuming you have a standard com port. Not sure about a non-standard port such as a PCI add-on card.

What happens if you run your script as startup.cmd?

Thanks Andreas, I'll add them to my tree.
BTW, next release will have changes to Lightning so you'll have to redo your localized version.
Also seems that dmik made an error in his libpathstrict patch for Firefox.exe and as I just copied his patch... Here's updated binaries.

Programming / Re: Git for OS/2 ?

There's KOMH's that you found, needs his Perl port as well and probably other ports or there's the one that is installed with yum install git. Since you indicated that you're using ArcaOS, it is probably the easiest to install and works here well though some commands need the parameter rather then the short version, eg git-am fails but git am works.

Setup & Installation / Re: Arca OS and WiFi

I am wondering:

Does Arca OS (and OS/2 4.52 in general) ship with every driver that was available at the time of the release?

And do some drivers fail to load simply because the PCI inquiry returns values that are not an exact match for hardware, even though some family drivers might work?

Thank you,
Rick C. Hodgin

There are some network drivers floating around that aren't included, some on Hobbes, some where Doug pointed to and others I'm sure.
Not sure about the PCI inquiry thing but wouldn't be surprised

Are you talking about Arcaos? Should be pscom.sys rather then com.sys as com.sys isn't SMP safe. Did you load usbcom.sys? If so there is a bug where usbcom.sys is loaded first and claims the com port. Fix is to move usbcom.sys to after the other com port using drivers

USB booting was planned for ArcaOS 5.0 but wasn't completed and it is hoped to be in 5.1.
The problem is loading the USB drivers at the right time as far as I know and others have played with it as well.

I've played with it a bit (and so has Paul) and can transfer one file (usually the ArcaOS ISO) successfully excepting filename problems, it really wants a UTF8 locale. Unluckily libusb probably needs fixing/updating/better porting which is beyond me

There's libmtp, http://libmtp.sourceforge.net/ IIRC. MTP is the protocol used by phones, tablets etc to exchange files. Depends on libusb of which we have a port{s} that seems to need more work.

You could try reinstalling the driver. System Setup-->Network-->Adapters and Protocols. Basically remove it and reinstall the same driver, with a couple of reboots in between. At least it should reset everything to the defaults.

There's OpenWatcom, OpenWatcom.org, the only existing cross compiler for OS/2 and of course GCC, yum install gcc.

The OS/2 port of VirtualBox does not support Acceleration VT-x/AMD, which is required to install OS/2

Thanks for the info, Dave!  Interestingly, I put my 8 GB stick into a linux machine, and used fdisk to change the partition type to 7 (HPFS/NTFS/exFAT), and it now works under both my linux desktop and ArcaOS.

That's interesting. Guess the important part is being partitioned rather then a large floppy.
Note that there is an alternative USB stack maintained by Lars that can handle the large floppy format. It's more of an experimental branch and unsupported by Arca Noae.

Setup & Installation / Re: ArcaOS install - can't create partition
« on: May 28, 2017, 03:22:15 am »
Probably using the Windows 10 disk manager to shrink the partition left the partition table in a OS/2 unfriendly state. Should always use OS/2 tools for resizing etc. You could try using dfsee to fix them.

Hi Howard, welcome back to OS/2.
About the USB sticks, problem is that OS/2 doesn't recognize the large floppy format (no partition table) that most sticks use, so they need to be wiped, partitioned and LVM info added. Easiest is to download Dfsee (dfsee.com) which has a script to make USB sticks OS/2 friendly. DFsee is shareware but fully functional, the cost gives very good support.
About the realtek network driver, someone else can walk you through it but in short, there are a few different chipsets on the realtek cards that need different drivers, you probably need a different realtek driver. Doug seems to be the expert on those cards, so hopefully he'll be along to expand on it.
