Hi Martin,

5.13.10: https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-5.13.10-20210815.zip
Hi
I tested it with ArcaOS 5.0.6 VM guest on VBox 6.1.26 (Windows 10 host).
- VM ICH AC97: Works, Audio control working, no traps. It sounds, but sometimes the volume control goes to the max when I double click from one wav to another.
- VM Intel HD Audio: Works, Audio control working, no traps. But the sound it is lower than "AC97".  If I set the volume to 40%, I can not hear it at all.

Any chances of logs from a 'good' build and from the latest?

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Dave,

Now we're talking - or I can hear it! 5.13 is making sounds here and seems to work well - thanks again, you're aces...

There's no logic in 5.13 working when 5.11 and 5.12 didn't - but I'll take it :)

I only tested these builds in Virtualbox - I often don't get sound in Virtualbox so I wasn't concerned about not getting sound.

I'll try and do some testing locally with real hardware ASAP.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Holger,

I have a x61 here, which caused a lot of problems in the last months. But right now I have a completely new installation of AN (the second released version). I run this with acpi 3.23.04 because this version allows suspend and resume to work, all newer versions do not, all newer versions of AN neither off course. The strange thing is that when I use the original uniaud supplied with AN I can suspend and resume and sound works after resume. With the new builds sound is much better, I even do not need any unimix line in config.sys to have sound enabled, but after resume sound no longer works, neither when clicking a file or for example with PM123.Not a big deal, I just wondered if someone else has the same problems.

Are you able to send me the output of 'testlog uniaud' ? I'm curious what hardware you have. There were a LOT of changes in the most recent uniaud updates in AN, I'm not terribly surprised suspend/resume doesn't work. There were a lot of power related api's added in newer linux kernels, many of them I stubbed just to get things building.

@DaveYeo are you able to do the same on your T42? I'm assuming the T42 may still be AC97 hardware whereas the x61 will be HDA..

Hi Eugene,
Paul AN gave a word of thanks to yo for your work on the news posting.of the release. You and David both deserve credit.
Yeah I saw that, which was nice :) I spent literally hundreds of hours on Uniaud last year trying to get the code updated to the current level. Thankfully current maintenance time is minimal, although later this year I'll aim to move us to the next stable LTS (Long Term Support) code level.

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi Eugene,

Anoher update. The new arcanoae release drivers work on my system I did have to run LCSS to get it to be more stables with the Desktop and the mouse. but it is great to have system sounds. Thank you Paul for all your hard work on this.

Good news! I'm not sure what David A does differently when he builds, but I recall on an early version someone had more success with an AN build than mine, even though the core code is identical.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Dave,
Has anyone looked at how hard it would be to add USB Joystick support to SDL? I know next to nothing about it except a little experience with old style joysticks.
Seems basic support would be 2 axis and 2 button support, for many games even joypad support where a couple of buttons and the axis is basically binary or trinary, would be nice.
I ask because I recently revisited Rocks'N'Diamonds (our SDL mixer needs mod support), which reminded me how much more fun it was to play with a joypad rather then the keyboard.

I haven't looked into it at all, but I'd assume any support would use libusb (which we have) so surely it wouldn't be that difficult.

Cheers,

Paul.

Well I got sound. It is loud and the system is irradic. Mouse is very slow. PMMix is slow but comes up. I wil have to play with it but sound and no crash.

OK cool - I'll try and check my patches this evening - it's possible I screwed something up when reworking some code that wouldn't compile with openwatcom...

I will give them a try. Maybe tomorrow too much to do today.
Let me know - after a sleep, I think I know how to fix some of the hacks that were in yesterday's build. I'll try and address those this evening.

OK https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-5.10.50-20210721.zip should properly support ca0132 hardware

https://uniaud32-linux-5.10.50-20210720.zip *might* allow the ca_0132 to work - there are still a few hacks - but an alsahlp$ from it might be interesting...

Hi Guys,

Well stil not crashes but no sound and unimix no longer wil even come up.
Can you confirm the pci.exe report of your mainboard? On an older post you said it is a "Gigabyte MB with a Sound Blaster Recon chip", but can you please post the PCI report  and mainboard model?

Please also provide this log "copy alsahlp$ alsalog.txt".

From a quick google, a Sound Blaster Recon sounds like a ca0132 chipset - this chipset isn't currently enabled in the uniaud code.

Cheers,

Paul
