Any entry in popuplog.os2?

I'm running vncserver/client since many years. Think some version from last year or so. No problem here. Wild guess, you miss some dependency dll. Hence looking into popuplog.os2.

Try this - (copy paste this text to the address bar or you ftp client).

The forum software, or whatever, makes http://ftp// out of the link in your reply which if course is wrong. You'll see this wrong link when you hover over with the mouse in the status bar of Seamonkey.

My advice is -
yum install gcc (*)
yum install ostk45 (?)
yum install wlink

(*) (?) search for the correct packet name f.i. with 'yum list *tk45*'

I'm sure I've forgot something but...

Unfortunately not. But I've found a bug report that says /kbd: together with some size options don't work. Maybe that's fixed now. But would be cool if I could find some working example.

Our FreeRDP comes with nice objects to setup a connection. Unfortunately I didn't find how to add additional parameters there. So I played with command line. But no matter what I try I can't get the /kdb: option to work. F.e.
Code: [Select]
ofreerdp.exe /u:xxxx /p:xxxx /w:2100 /h:1800 /v:m92p works but
Code: [Select]
ofreerdp.exe /u:xxxx /p:xxxx /w:2100 /h:1800 /kdb:de /v:m92p or any other value I tried for /kdb including /kbd:0x409 does not. :-(

Now I've still the problem that I've to switch manually from 'en' to 'de' every time I connect to this linux box. This drives me crazy.

Directly connected to the Linux box all works well. I log in and have my default German keyboard layout. But connect in parallel via FreeRDP to the same system it always switch to 'en'. Have to click in the bar (similar what xcenter is) to switch back to 'de'. There must be something FreeRDP related which let Linux think it should use English keyboard instead. Some LANG setting or?

FWIW, I understand from Steven that his repository should be considered the "current" one.
I think so. But there's no possibility for filling issues. Also I don't find a complete package there. I for myself use the latest package what Frank build and what he put on his server. But I think his site doesn't exist anymore :-(.

Btw. thanks Lars for your comment here. This brought to my attention to test with older watcom releases with a project I worked a few days ago. It does behave strange with my OW1.9++.

Watcom 1.9 is what supposedly everybody should use, so I called that "official". But for a seldomly used feature ("based pointers") it produces an incorrect binary (for code executing in Ring 0 -> device drivers) where Watcom 2.0 will work properly. But Watcom 2.0 is "Jiri's fork" where you never know what he will do next.

Is there a possibility at all to report a bug against Watcom 1.9 ?
Is this bug new to 1.9 or 1.8 or ...

There's still alive the #watcom chat group and Michal is hanging around there. I don't think the perforce server will ever get started again. There's also Stevens OW copy at github - But it seems he don't allow issues there. Maybe we should email Frank? But I fear he lost interest on OW since a while.

Edit - Michal says this 'should be a very accurate conversion of the P4 depot to git, but it's not meant as a working copy:'. Looking a bit in the commits it seems to me Stevens repository is much ahead of that. Although Michal says he will accept fixes I think an email to Steven would be the best chance to get something fixed in the near future.

Basically it's the same problem as always - if different people put different repositories online no one knows what's the best one to use. If there's no clear lead for a project it's useless in the long run even if there exist different source repos. Currently I don't know what I should think about the next fork of Martin here - Of course I circumvent Jiris sites including his one.

After all, hard to beat the 3840x1200 Desktop real-estate!  8)
I did it a while ago and quite using SNAP and dual-head. I'm happy with my 42,5" 3840x2160 monitor and don't wanna switch back to two monitor setups although I used it more than a decade. The slightly higher DPI is not a problem for me. But yes a curved 42-46" monitor would be even better.

But in the end if the developer doesn't want it, that's it.
There are only a few of them and if one of them thinks it's worth the effort and has nothing better to do:-).

Seriously the current repo is at github. There are the last fixes from Steven. As our browsers don't work there I can't see much. But I'm pretty sure issues are still tracked here -

Oh just saw your ticket. Maybe you've start reading here -

I was wondering if the 4OS2 developer would like to change the old 4OS2 icons.

I think the original icon is still delivered with 4os2 packages. Locally I've it changed a bit, but... Do you think we should pack additional ones together?

I don't know if the developer would accept that, but I want to give it a try.

We need an icon like the original one in ICO format with all it's different (currently 5) resolutions. You may have discovered that the 4os2 icon in xcenter looks different then on the desktop. So I know the 2 are needed at least. Don't know about the ogher three though. See picture. Anyway the user can choice which icon he uses. Packing a few png in addition shouldn't be a big problem. But what would be the benefit? I mean everyone can take another icon maybe the pngs from here and attach it to his objects anyway. And not everyone does have/like .png icons installed.

In the meantime I found out that my problem is NOT an incompatibility between GCC/VAC as I thought before.

I fear va_copy is not supported by any IBM compiler. At least I didn't find anything in ibmcpp3xx and ibmcpp4. Is this a gcc only thing?

Programming / Parameter passing to dll - difference VAC / GCC - varargs
« on: January 20, 2024, 01:50:50 pm »
I've a dll which exports functions which I wanna call from VAC, GCC (and Watcom) compiled programs.

Problem is gcc seems to pass varargs different than VAC.
I've a function in the dll something like
Code: [Select]
ULONG         _System   xPmPrintf(char *Format, ...);which works when called by programs compiled with VAC3.65 but produces garbage when called by a gcc test program (except the first arg).

I found here that Dmitriy noted about a problem with gcc and varargs but can't find a solution.

Any hints?

....- Don't now why, but copying from/to FAT32 USB is so slow compared to Linuxes. Is it beacause these are 64-bit? I doubt it. If someone has an explanation I am happy. Files included. Config.sys renamed to Config.doc.
Our FAT32 driver is notoriously slow. It's not because it is 32 and 16 bit. It's probably cause of some not so good design decisions decades ago. We are happy that it is somehow stable. If you need FAT32 for more than a few small files you've to use another OS.

- The LAN speed is about 1/3 compared to inux, but I can live with it.
How do you measure 'LAN speed'? Usually ftp or other protocols are nearly the same as with every other OS. It is limited by the hardware (100Base-TX, 1000Base-T). Wild guess - you measure speed with SMB shares only, right?

Thanks a lot Silvan. Without your picture I overlooked the obvious.
