Does anyone else have an issue when Ctrl clicking the desktop icon that barely a small highlight shows up and now list of processes to kill?

Hi Andy. I press Alt+tab to show the lswicther menu. I press Ctrl+left click on the desktop icon and I don't see any kind of highlight or any other action occur. Is that the procedure?

Thanks for the Tip Roberto.

I installed ZipControl and it unzipped the file fine. I noticed that it is a DOS software and not OS/2, it works on DOS full screen session. I will repackage it and upload to hobbes /dos/ just to have it there.

Hello again.

I'm trying to unzip this file, but it says it has a problem.

If someone can give it try, or know of an alternative let me know.

In fact, NewView does use the system font setting as its default if (and only if) a user font is not specified. Again, this is as it should be.  Of course, this normally happens only when you first run it after a fresh install. Try deleting newview.ini and then see what happens.  :D

Thanks Alex. I noticed I was using an older release, I updated to Newview 2.19.9 and it "adhere to" to the system font size. I stand corrected.

A distinction needs to be made here between "respect" and "adhere to".  These programs have their own user-customizable font size setting which they use in preference to any others. This is as it should be.
Thanks Alex for the correction, the right word should be "adhere to", since "respect" may sound aggressive, like if the software is "disrespecting" something and that is not what I mean.  Thanks for helping me find the right word.

Also the idea is not to force or lock the font size of style of the software, it is just to start with the default and let the user change their font style and size if he wants to, like it has always been possible on OS/2. It is always the choice of the developer what font to use, but the idea is just to give a convenience to the user to be able to change the size of all the fonts at once now that XWP has that feature.

I'm just writing down which other software does not respect "adhere to" the default font size that can now be controlled with the XWP "Font Size" feature.
- WarpIn
- ArcaOS Package Manager
- NewView (Works fine on 2.19.9)
- (kLIBC) User Manager
- DragText
- Extended Character  Map
- Lucide
- PMDCalc Plus
- Remote Desktop Connections

The latest version does not save the fonts for the widget that I drop from the Font Paletter. I have to set the font again after every reboot.

PS: I tried to register for a user mailing list (specified in Readme) and received a confirmation email. But the letter sent to the mailing list was never returned to me.
I then tried to register at to create a ticket, but the registration did not work.
I created the ticket:
I hope it helps.

I also replicated the issue. On the "lSwitcher Settings" if you change the font with the Font Palette, the font style resets when you close the window and reopen it. It also applies for the "Alt+Tab" menu.

I was refereed to this video on YouTube: DIY FPGA based Mixing Console with OS/2 GUI - and more

If I don't get it wrong, He created an audio mixing console based on the Arduino Vidor 4000 FPGA board, and created the GUI app to control it on OS/2 (Warp 3). I need to watch the full video with more detail.

Hello christech

Do you have some IPTV sample that you can share to give it try?

NASA TV from YouTube works fine today on VLC (Media - Open NetworkStream)  -

Also found this free M3U8 that also seems to works fine on our VLC:

By the way I'm using VLC 3.0.20.

Thanks Dave, it compiled (and it runs) with the makefile you posted here.

Just one question, any idea how do you add the "bldlevel information" that is on "SCALE.DEF" to be included on the .exe ?

I will keep testing the OpenWatcom IDE too.

All your links have been made private, and thus unavailable ...
Let's see what is Roderick's plan. Maybe they are cutting the files and will make them available online in a more organized way.

Programming / Compiling PM Samples with OpenWatcom
« on: June 10, 2024, 03:16:58 am »

I want to learn to use a the OpenWatcom compiler as an alternative to gcc for some PM samples, but I need to understand the commands and have some example of the make file.

My desire is to compile some thing simple like:
I have installed OpenWatcom C for OS/2 v2.0.x  offered from the David Azarewicz website. I'm using make and wlink too.

Please give me hand with the makefile, should I make a makefile.wcc ?
