Thanks Dariusz, I'll add that one to my "look at" list as well!

Thanks Martin, I have a Facebook account but hardly ever use it. I'll see if I can find any OS/2 groups on there.

Marketplace / Is anyone presently offloading any OS/2 software?
« on: March 26, 2024, 10:08:22 pm »
Hi all,

I recently posted here about a few very specific OS/2 applications I was looking for.

I'm actually trying to build my collection of OS/2 editions and applications so if anyone has *any* OS/2 editions or any other OS/2 software that they're thinking about selling (but want to avoid the pain that is eBay) then please direct-message me, either now or at any time in the future.

For example I know that Sigurd recently posted some box photos of WSEB but I expect you're not interested in selling that are you Sigurd??? :-)

Thanks all,
Richard.

Thanks very much for everyone's replies. I've been experimenting with VisPro REXX but didn't realise it actually did syntax highlighting so I'll take another look at that.

I've wanted to get my hands on VX-REXX for a long time but it hasn't come up on eBay for as long as I've been looking, and I can't find anyone else wanting to sell a copy :-(

I'll take a look at all the other suggestions here and I really appreciate people taking the time to give some feedback and input - thank you!

Richard.

Programming / REXX IDE recommendations?
« on: March 25, 2024, 07:48:48 pm »
Does anyone have a recommendation for a REXX IDE, and preferably one that runs on traditional OS/2 (i.e as opposed to one that needs the libraries included with ArcaOS)?

IDE is perhaps the wrong word, I really just mean something that has good syntax highlighting or can even highlight errors.

For syntax highlighting: similar to how Notepad++ can do this on Windows

For highlighting errors: similar to what Microsoft Visual Studio does in Windows

Any suggestions or recommendations are welcome, free or paid!

Thanks,
Richard.

Hi Martin,

That box picture collection looks much better now - much easier to see! Later this week I'll cross reference those with all the boxes I have and send you photos of any that you don't have so far.

Sorry Martin, I forgot to reply to this! I'll go through my collection and cross-reference whatever you already have photos off. If there are any gaps I'll take some photos and PM them to you.

Hi Martin,

Here's the one I missed-out on. Unfortunately the part number isn't shown but you can see a couple of pictures of the box:

Does anyone have a boxed copy of OS/2 2.11 on CD-ROM that they want to sell, Either English (US) or English (UK)?

I missed-out on one on eBay recently and whilst I know it's available on Archive.org I'm looking for the real article. Preferably boxed and still sealed, although that might be something of a unicorn!

Thanks,
Richard.

Networking / Re: RDP Client that has send-key functionality
« on: March 16, 2024, 10:52:04 pm »
Have you tried pressing [Ctrl]-[Alt]-[End] instead? That's what you do when using an RDP client on another Windows device.

Failing that it looks like there are some patches to get [Ctrl]-[Alt]-[End] working but I wouldn't know how to compile those in I'm afraid:

Thanks HorndFrog but unfortunately that's just a patch to upgrade BackMaster 3.0 to BackMaster 3.01 and requires that an existing BackMaster 3.0 installation is present. Appreciate you trying to help though!

Richard.

Thanks very much but unfortunately that's BackMaster 2 which I already have and which doesn't support the Iomega Ditto 2GB.

Thanks for trying to help though, I appreciate it!

Richard.

I really appreciate everyone's continued replies, thank you very much for your thoughts, opinions, comments about pro's & con's, and links to other sites. There's certainly a lot of options here so I'll take time to look at each of those in detail. What a great community that's so keen to offer advice and recommendations!

Best,
Richard.

Thanks Neil, funnily enough I ordered that from eBay a few months ago but it was returned to the seller before it was even delivered to me because the courier damaged it in transit. Very frustrating! I have the slightly older "Real-World Programming for OS/2 2.1" but m on the lookout for the 2.11 edition if it ever crops up again!
