Hi Roberto,

I have tried procedure to make a USB stick with ArcaOS 5.02 and here it works. Does the same stick works if you as example make a DFSEE bootable stick ?

Have you tried to make chkdsk on the stick , if there is errors ?

I have used the guidelines from the AOSBOOT folder on the installmedia.

Hi David,

If you are going to password protect your files, you also need to install nspr-legacy or nspr.  I had issues with making protected files or open when they were missing.

Think I saw in other thread you have ArcaOS so install  via ANPM.

Have you tried to update to the new version of AN package manager. It solved some of my issues incl. the one you have.

Best Regards

I have used this page a few times myself, when I have used a older  DFSEE image in recovery of PC and then needed to update yum/ANPM.

Setup & Installation / Re: ArcaOS 5.0.1 on Dual Boot.
« on: October 30, 2017, 08:15:21 pm »
Hi ,

I have just tried to make a dual boot with Windows 10 and ArcaOS on a laptop that normally runs Linux on it. The hardware were HP Elitebook 2560P with SSD 450 GB HDD.  Laptop was set to legacy MBR no secure boot or GPT disc layout.

Just to see if possible without to much hassle  :P

SSD drive were fully erased during Windows 10 install, with default install meaning Windows let choose disc layout with system partion and C-drive.

After around 1 hour, I have now a dual boot. Only few issues during install.  I have been using the ArcaOS install media to resize the Windows 10 partition that take up all disc space and to fix disc errors.

I did ran into partition table corrupt, but did let disc utility to fix that and rebooted. Used install media to boot up and did run disc utility again to see if more errors were found. None were found except no LVM info on disc. Let disc utility to fix that to and another reboot.

After reboot, I did let disc utlity to handle/resize the Windows 10 C-drive to around 300 GB. After that was done, checked log from resizing were there info that reboot was needed and did a boot into Windows to let it see the new partition size and can recommend make a disc check to see if issues found.  All was fine in my case.

I then did made a reboot to install ArcaOS. This time I was now able to make the freespace used for install of ArcaOS. installed Airboot for choosing between the OS.  After some minutes install was done.

I use my travel router to connect to my wifi. As the builtin wifi does not work.

Best Regards

I had a simular issue when my ISP was changing there mail servers even though , we was informed that customers was not affected and no changes were needed in our mail software config.  But that did turn out to be not true. We should change the TLS port settings and set Authentication to Yes.

Have you checked if your settings has changed somehow both client and server side ?

Best Regards

I have tried some weeks ago, but I do not believe it is active and setup yet. I think they write on there blog when active. Because as I have read there info regards Firefox rpm package will be av. for subscribers on same repo

So I just think we have to wait a little while.

Setup & Installation / Re: ArcaOS 5.0.1 on Dual Boot.
« on: October 15, 2017, 06:19:48 pm »
Hi Martin,

I have for the last 7 years been running triple boot with Windows + Linux and now ArcaOS before Ecomstation in the setup. The desktop a HP branded was preinstalled with Windows7, then upgraded when Windows 10 arrived. My harddrive is 750 GB.

I have looked at my old notes. What I did was using Easus partionmanager free version to resize Windows C-drive to the size I wanted. Windows builtin tools did not allow me to resize or disc tool in Ecom to the size I wanted. I deleted my Recovery Partition at the end of disc layout. Remember backup before starting.

Then I booted up into Minilvm or disc checker. I had some chs or partitontable issues, I can see from notes. I did use disc checker to fix the issues. Reboot when asked.
After reboot, I did boot into Windows and check if all was ok no errors. Then reboot into ArcaOS and see if you are clear to install. Let Minilvm make the partitions.

I use Paragon for backup for both Windows and Linux. Used for around 10 years now. No issues, they have a free version.

What was your disc layout before ?

I have learned over the years the Windows/Linux sees disc layout not the sameway as Arcaos etc.

The install guide for Arcaos is handy see chapter 2.4 and 4 and 7.2 for more details.

Hope you can get the dualboot up and running

I can recommend a travel router easy to setup and small . I just bought a TP-Link N300 Wireless Wi-Fi Nano Travel Router. Very easy to configure via webinterface. I use it with a old HP 6710B laptop to connect to wifi as the built in does not work very well with genmac wifi driver. everything is in the package to get you up and running in a few minutes.

Hi Holger

I am running the GA version and have no issues. Have you tried to make a new profile ? Also try to disable addons if you have some installed.

I had the same issue until I made a new profile. Also if you have flashblock as addon it gave me 100 % cpu usage when enabled.

I have just seen all the Warpstock 2017 in one go with cpu usage 30-50 % sometimes up to 90 % but drops down again.

Just rename the firefox profile to ex firefox_old , and then start Firefox again and I would imagine you get a more smooth performance.

Best Regards

Have you tried to make a new profile by renaming the Firefox to ex Firefox_old.

Then see  if that works for you.

Profile is in c:\home\mozilla\firefox per default.

Maybe disable some addons that you might have from the other installed Firefox.

Hi Neil,

To get running you need the new version of libc + libcdevel from the Netlabs experimental repo. I unzipped the firefox zip  and copied it to the usr + subfolders same structure as the zipped firefox file. Then made a copy of firefox.exe on my desktop.

I am pretty sure the neded files wil be moved to Netlabs release repo pretty soon.

Here it runs just fine on ArcaOS.
