Both KFileWizard and JFTP fail to connect to SFTP server, hanging in the authentication negotiation. I'm going to try to see if there is some problem with the server configuration.

OK, I tried again after rebooting the server, and now JFTP works with SFTP server. I need to find out why this isn't stable.

Hardware / Re: Modern Motherboards - Whats working
« on: Today at 03:16:03 pm »

PS/2 ports are on most modern systems dead as doornail. Maybe industrial mainboards (that are sometimes pretty expensive), still tend to have PS/2 ports.
The more modern systems the 8042 PS/2 controller is also going away from the mainboards.

Roderick

Even the latest Lenovo M series desktop has optional PS/2 ports. My particular problem, which is not unique to OS/2, is in supporting access to IBM iSeries and mainframes that still rely on their legacy keyboards. I expect to be able to support PS/2 connected keyboards for a long time to come.

My SFTP server crashed. Your userid appears to be corrupt. I recreated it and sent you a private message.

This is Peter Moylan's SFTP server, and I have tested it only against his SFTP client. I may have crashed the server myself -- I tried a few more things.

The vast majority of OS/2 users are on commercial computers, not home-made from motherboards.

Any Lenovo M series desktop computer in the last 15 years would work with your requirements -- I've tried pretty much all of them.

You can go with the hobbyist market -- It's more of a hobby than a rational decision. I know several skilled hobbyists inhabit OS/2 World. If building your own computer brings joy, go for it.

You can buy refurbished computers from the many of the major electronics retail websites now.

@Neil
For a trap, if not a problem of libraries, can I connect to your SFTP server ?

I have sent access details for my SFTP server to the e-mail address in your profile.

I have downloaded openssl-0.9.8zh-os2knix-20151207-runtime.zip from http://bauxite.sakura.ne.jp/software/os2/#openssl.

Once I placed openssl.exe and all the dll files from that package into the KFileWizard directory, the program starts and sees the local drive.

But if I attempt to connect to my local SFTPD (Peter Moylan's SFTPServer) kfw.exe exits with a TRAP.

This is an excerpt from the server log

Code: [Select]

The trap file is attached.

I have installed openssl and openssl-libs from netlabs. I hope that does not interfere.

Utilities / K File Wizard
« on: May 15, 2024, 04:34:17 am »
K File Wizard is a file manager for OS/2 integrating file operations of both the local and the remote support FTP and SFTP. K File Wizard was written by KO Myung-Hun.

I downloaded it from HobbesArchive, but when I try to run it, I get the following error:

SYS0002: The system cannot find the file specified. "KCRYPTO"

Does anyone know where kcrypto.dll can be found?

I visited him at his shop a few years ago and sold him an eComStation computer. He seemed very interested in Parallel ports. He makes Automated Test Equipment, but he didn't reveal much about his customers.

I don't know what desktop Ubuntu LTS uses.

Interestingly, /bin/startx already has unset DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS

This must be the vino server. I didn't install anything, I just enabled VNC in settings. This is Ubuntu LTS 22.04.

So far, I'm using the latest one, VNC by Andrey Vasilkin

Progress: Ubuntu was not saving my password. I was able to log in, but each time I start Ubuntu, I need to set the VNC password. Connection only works from iOS.

Our VNC client is able to authenticate and connect, but the display is the wrong size and always just a black screen.

I'm trying to use our VNC to connect to Ubuntu LTS.

It looks like it's trying to work, but I can never get a password accepted.

Has anyone gotten this to work?

The last Personal Communications for OS/2 version was 4.3.2

There are several builds out; I think the last might have been August, 2001

The serial device drivers, USB, IBMCOM and COM all work fine in any position. All the position in Config.Sys does is determine which com port COM1, COM2, etc. is assigned to which device.

RMVIEW is voluntary, so if a device driver doesn't participate, RMVIEW will not show it.

BASEDEV statements are processed in an earlier pass. We've presented the process at Warpstock several times. They have to be correct, but their order compared to DEVICE= statements is not relevant.

On my system, I made sure that USBCOM.SYS was the first device= statement. That ensures that the USB com port comes before all the other com ports.

IBM File and Print services also shares COM ports, so if you install that, it will grab a com port.

I didn't bother installing COM.SYS, apparently.
