Setup & Installation / Re: Startup.Cmd not executing
« on: August 05, 2020, 07:47:19 pm »
I don't have a startup.cmd. Everything which has to start up is in the config.sys. Startup.cmd is just a command file and acts as every other program which has to be started manually or is started with run in the config.sys. I don't know what you have in the startup.cmd file, but see if it can migrate to the config.sys file.

You can read that in the manual, look for SYS2028 and SYS2029. I have a Dutch manual, so I can't tell you on what page, but I think its  chapter 15.

Today I have added a new game to my Java corner. It is one big file 194.9Mb, no no, not a typo! This game is called Spice Trade and you can read more on my page in English http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e172.htm or in Dutch http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n172.htm (Mind that the game is in English!).

This is a picture from Baghdad in the game;

This will give me some time, the game takes you hours ;-)
So, have fun, happy gaming and stay healthy!,

Setup & Installation / Re: Windows 3.1 inside OS/2 won't start
« on: July 28, 2020, 11:42:09 pm »
Progman.exe is on my system only called in windowed session, not in full screen.  Besides that, there is no information to go on other than that windows 3.1 doesn't start. This tells me that you don't have OS/2 full version. The full versions have WinOS2. There are OS/2 distributions which lack WinOS2 and where you have to install your existing Windows 3.1 in OS/2, but in that case your going to work with an OS2 version which will show more than a few problems on motherboards from the past twenty years. For what I remember is that the OS/2 installation without WinOS2 over an existing Windows 3.1 was not one without troubles.
So you have to give more information about your OS/2 version and what you did.

Today I have added an utility called JPDF Tweak. Got the link from Ivan, thank you, I just saw that this was 5 years ago. Time flies ;-(. I did some testing and wrote a page about it for my Java corner. You can find more about JPDF Tweak on this page http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e169.htm and in Dutch on this page http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n169.htm.

I have some pictures, this is one of them;

I had downloaded two spreadsheet programs long time ago. Today I have run both spreadsheets. Together with the already published Jeks gives a nice view which is best. Verdict: none. Two spreadsheets use USA notation for decimal point and one uses the European version. All have parts which don't work. In Jeks you can make your own formula, that could be interesting. In Clean Sheets you have better layout. In between, if you can say it in that way, sits Sharp Tools. All have the trouble that you have enter the cell references manually instead of dragging it with the mouse. Sharp Tools can handle empty cells,  Clean Sheets can not, you have to fill an empty cell with a zero otherwise you can't use the sum formula without error. So all spreadsheet programs have something which doesn't work or is even absent. All spreadsheet programs does have something special. But all are no match for Lotus, Open Office, Staroffice or Mesa. And then we have not mentioned Windows 3.1 programs and DOS programs.

After this intro, I have added the spreadsheet program Sharp Tools to my Java website. You can read a little more on this page http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e167.htm or in Dutch http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n167.htm.

I have added a new program to my Java website. Its again an "office" program, its called BeaGTex and it is an editor for Latex documents. You can read more on my English page http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e166.htm or in Dutch http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n166.htm. The program is in English and in German and this is hard coded in the program, so despite language file no Dutch or some other language.

Applications / Re: Where to download Gnuplot
« on: July 17, 2020, 11:54:42 am »
Sourceforge has going from bad to worse when it comes to looking for a program and with downloading. Advertisements seems to be more important and also you don't get what you asked for. In case of download problems pick direct the download site instead of letting the system choose even if there is only one site. I experience the same problems with Java programs, special then when they are a little older or not frequently visited. Be informed that this is a deliberate action of the new owners.

- possibly no NIC support - not sure if the RTL8125B is supported by the ArcaOS drivers - given the references to adding missing linux drivers, I suspect this is a newer chipset.
On Realtek site

If you had visit my Java homepage then you could have seen that the "Office programs" corner had no room anymore for another program. I have solved that problem and now there is room for another 23 programs in "Office programs". That means 5 rows with icons and very little room for the blue frame with program names and what it does. Therefore I introduce a new icon with the text "Index Office programs". When you click on the text or the icon you get a full page with the index. See the picture, in the red circle the new icon.

So this trick gives me some time to think about what to do when all rows are filled with icons...

If 110mmx110mm is the size your after, there are also Intel NUC's on the market which uses this kind of motherboards, only fitted with more familiar chips. The NUC's comes in different flavours with different processors and different heights in casing. But it still stays a small package. Problem might be USB3 or the video chip set if not build in the processor. The processor varies from a two kernel two a four kernel setup with different  speeds and more memory than OS/2 can handle.
