Hi Igor

Based on Pauls recent post - see https://www.os2world.com/forum/index.php/topic,4057.0.html - I suspect you may have to hope that Paul reads your post and feels up to looking into your request.

Maybe 1 of the (few) other porters/coders could help...

Internet / Re: DASH (Dooble Awesome Shell)

Hi Dave

It depends on the computer but personally I think the stock VAL value is way to low. You should be able to raise it until it hits PCI space. Here, my computer is stable with 2944 and crashy with 3072. 2560 should be good for most.

I suspect the stock VAL does not take into account the need to run ported nix software.

Yes, 2560 is good here. Anything higher leads to a reboot when trying to run AOO and Seamonkey - or Dooble - at the same time.

Hi Dave

Yes, sites with lots of images and javascript eg ebay cause dooble qt5 to quit fairly quickly - 5 to 10 mins use if lucky. Less "busy" sites usually last a little longer, maybe 20 mins, and some sites do not work at all. Sadly the qt6 version usually quits after a few minutes regardless of how "busy" a site is.

Possibly upping VAL value would help - but it would screw up other apps that are more important.

Hi Dave

Yes, it is more of a curiosity then very useful, especially since copy and paste don't seem to work. Still interesting what can be done and shows a weakness in our Qt6 port.

Probably follows on from weaknesses in qt5.

DASH sounds interesting but as dooble is unusable...

Games / Re: Dosbox and Dosbox-X

Hi Dave

Yes ttf nearly uses the fullscreen; trying to run heretic results in the game occupying the top left corner of the screen though.

Wonder what has changed between dosbox and dosbox-x with regard to the surface option as surface works fine in dosbox.

Hi Dave

Yet again dosbox(-x).conf gives an answer for output options:-

#            output: What video system to use for output (surface = software (SDL_Surface); openglnb = OpenGL nearest; openglpp = OpenGL perfect; ttf = TrueType font output).
#                      Possible values: default, surface, overlay, ttf, opengl, openglnb, openglhq, openglpp, ddraw, direct3d.

So far default, surface, ddraw and the opengl* variants all give the same result: dosbox-x does not run fullscreen; overlay results in dosbox-x crashing on startup.

Hi All

Posting to correct my previous statement that dosbox-x runs fullscreen.
It does not.

If I start dosbox-x windowed and then use F12+F to switch to fullscreen dosbox-x blanks the whole screen but only runs in the top left corner.
I get the same result when starting dosbox-x in fullscreen.

What should I change in the following [sdl] section settings to get dosbox-x running fullscreen? - Note: output=overlay does not work at all, surface and openglnb both give the above result.

fullscreen=false
fulldouble=false
fullresolution=original
aspect=true
windowresolution=original
# output=surface
# output=overlay
output=openglnb
autolock=true
sensitivity=100
waitonerror=true
priority=higher,normal
mapperfile=mapper-SVN.map
usescancodes=true

Hi Dave

Not sure what that is meant to do - but it doesn't whatever it is.

To clarify: dosbox-x runs full screen but any game is loaded into the top left corner of that screen rather than full screen.

Hi All

Silly question: How do I get full screen use for games in dosbox-x?

Currently trying to run any game results in the game appearing in the top left corner of the screen - dosbox-x is running full screen.
The same games run full screen in dosbox.
I am using the same [sdl] section settings that work for dosbox.

I can only guess there is a setting that I am not aware of in dosbox-x...

Networking / Re: Changing from DHCP to Static IP leads to TRAP
« on: January 12, 2026, 02:37:17 am »
Hi David

I think you need to issue the command

   \mptn\bin\arp -f

before requesting a new ip lease.
This should flush the arp tables so the old ip should not get re-used.

Applications / Re: RSJ CDwriter question.

Hi

Been a while since I last used RSJ and do not currently have RSJ installed but to burn an ISO file to CD use the Copy(Burn?) CD object with destination set as CD/DVD writer and source as the ISO file.

Hi Richard

If still looking for hpfs386 upgrade for WSeB I have a hpfs386.zip available.
It contains files dated 1999 and 2000, readme states "386 HPFS UPGRADE FOR OS/2 WARP SERVER FOR E-BUSINESS".

Not sure where I got it from... could have been supplied by eCS or I found it on the web at some point in time. So, not sure how "legit" it is - or whether that matters these days.

Do you need/want a copy?

If "Yes" hopefully Martin will advise on whether it can be uploaded as an attachment here.

Regards

Pete
