Hi KO

The snapwrap.dll file is in the mplayer.exe directory - as is woverlay.dll which also fails when trying to use kva:wo.

I can answer my question: snap output is not working.
The mplayer log displayed by smplayer does not mention any problem with snap output but I found the smplayer log has these lines:-

[14:28:20:772] MplayerProcess::parseLine: 'KVA: Init failed!!!'
[14:28:20:803] MplayerProcess::parseLine: 'Opening video filter: [ass auto=1]'
[14:28:20:807] MplayerProcess::parseLine: '[ass] auto-open


I think the above indicates that mplayer could not initiate snap output and switched to "auto" video output.Not sure what causes mplayer to switch output...


I did try to copy'n'paste the mplayer command line from smplayer but I think the line is too long as it does not fully copy.

I'm not sure whether snap output is working or not.

If I play a video using smplayer with snap as output driver it plays fine, mplayer log displayed by smplayer shows:-

Towards end of log is this line

The above seems to indicate snap output is working.


Trying to play the same video directly with mplayer from the command line using this command
   mplayer -vo kva:snap -msglevel ao=9:vo=9 -quiet L:\download\Caligula.mp4 > mplayer.log 2>&1
results in no playback and this in the log:-

The joy of the full version is (used to be?) that it starts with no features enabled and the user selects what they want.

I guess in future the user will simply have to select what they want and deselect anything they do not want...

Re "Register": The Button only tries to execute an URL, which on other platforms opens the default browser with the URL. I don't know, how to fix that. Perhaps somebody has done something similar and can tell me.



You need to read the os2.ini file to get default browser (and profile) data then use DosExecPgm to start browser with profile data and website url as parameter.

Happy to send you the code I used in USBcfg - it is in Pascal but that is not too different from c.

I do not have Dynamic Icons installed as, quite simply, it is broken.

How, exactly, is it broken (vs. merely deficient)? I've been using it for 6+ years and it WFM. There's a new version awaiting release that fixes most of the problems I found and uses a lot less memory. Hopefully it will work for you.


Errmm.. A reply from yourself in the Bigicons discussion

In this case, the problem is not operator error or a bad install - it's just broken. I can reliably lock up my system by using D&D to copy a program object to a folder that's open in Icon view. You might think that I would have noticed this before but I use Xview almost exclusively and only have 2 folders that use Icon view (one of them being the Desktop).


Looking forward to trying the new release in the near future.

The Hotkeys tab does not exist until a Function key has been created and Set as an Object hotkey - creating LWin and Setting it as the Object hotkey for Downloads should have created the Hotkeys tab.

Dynamic Icons is, I think, installed from PNGDESK.WPI so use Warpin to uninstall.

Having added a Function Key and then set that Function Key to open Downloads the Keyboard properties should now show a Hotkeys tab with the Function Key listed - see screenshots Funckeys.jpg and Hotkeys.jpg. The Hotkeys tab does not in your screenshot indicating that Setting LWin as the Object hotkey for Downloads did not work

My best guess is that some other desktop extender is interfering...

I do not have "Turbo folders" enabled but doubt that interferes.

I do not have Dynamic Icons installed as, quite simply, it is broken. I wonder if that is causing the problem you are seeing?

I decided to try this for myself and did not find any problem.

The steps to setup the Left Windows key were

1] Uncheck "Enable the windows keys" in System Setup -> Keyboard - OEM Keys

2] Add Function Key name: LWin, click in Hardware scan code edit box and press the LWin key to display the value (0x7e (126) on my Logitech keyboard) in System Setup -> Keyboard -> Function Keys - click OK to save

3] Open Download folder Properties -> Icon, click in Object hotkey edit box, press the LWin key - should show LWin in edit box, click Set and close the Properties.

4] Pressed the LWin key and Download opened

A quick look at XWP Help Object Hotkeys suggests you may be going about this wrong:-

Note: Do not confuse object hotkeys with folder hotkeys, as displayed in the "Workplace Shell" object. Object hotkeys are used to open    objects using a key definition and work everywhere, while folder hotkeys are shortcuts to certain folder commands and work in folders only.


The above suggests that you should be using Folder Hotkeys which is Enabled in XWorkplace Setup -> Features -> Folder features

Never used it myself so no tips on setting up, Sorry.

After creating the Function Key close Keyboard notebook then open Downloads folder Properties, Icon tab, click in Object Hotkey box, press the Key (LWin) that you want to use then click Set.

Hi Doug

I have seen that message after a hard disk crash corrupted some files, had to rebuild the project interface.

For the error messages about eg TMAIN1 see the project SPR file in the project source directory, open it with Text Editor - do not doubleclick it as that will start WDSibyl instead. You will probably find you need to manually add in any missing paths especially in the section called [Project Files].

SYS1041: The name qwebengine_convert_dict is not recognized as an
internal or external command, operable program or batch file.


No "howto" in the zip file.
