Title: Colemak Keyboard Layout in ArcaOS
Post by: carver on March 11, 2021, 01:14:52 am
I am using ArcaOS 5.0.6. ArcaOS does not have built in support for Colemak, the keyboard layout I type in, so I have created a KBL keyboard layout with a hex editor for Colemak and placed it in C:\LANGUAGE\KEYBOARD\USCO.KBL. How do I get my layout to appear in the keyboard layout list in the keyboard settings?

Welcome Carver,
Not sure if you can, maybe Alex will show up with a suggestion.
As an alternative, you could replace an existing keyboard layout, perhaps USDVL (US left handed) or the opposite, USDVR with yours. This would keep the locale set to en_US.
Do "help keyb" without quotes at a cmd prompt for how to change it system (minus WinOS2) wide.

Here are interesting tools:
http://lafaix.online.fr/os2/os2betaus.html (http://lafaix.online.fr/os2/os2betaus.html)
http://www.edm2.com/0303/keyboard.html (http://www.edm2.com/0303/keyboard.html)
The docs of DonKey say that new layouts can be imported. It modifies keyboard.dcp and pmmerge.dll. Maybe that still works with a recent OS/2.
