Applications / Re: OpenOffice 4.1.7 gives error on startup
« on: June 28, 2020, 07:01:28 pm »
I had AOO 4.1.7 working, but after recent ANPM dll updates it quit working and I get the message Neil mentioned at the beginning of this thread.  I tried all the suggestions and it's still not working.  Anyone have any recent suggestions?
I'm really stuck without my AOO to work with.

Hardware / Re: USB 3 - ArcaOS - Hardware Reports
« on: June 26, 2020, 06:39:24 pm »
I am using a KVM from AirLink 101 for Keyboard and mouse with 1 PS/2 port on each computer and a splitter cable for the mouse & keyboard.  The Arca 5.0.5 USB 3 is working fine on my 2 machines.  I have a separate HDMI splitter for video as the new MBs don't have VGA outputs that work for me.  The HDMI shifts automatically when I turn on a different computer, but also has a small remote.  Very happy with Arca!

Hardware / Re: search for a PC for the next 10 years
« on: April 29, 2020, 10:03:32 pm »
Just updated a  Arca 5.04 computer to an ASRock B450 -HDV r4.0 motherboard Ryzen 5-00 with 8 gig Ram. Video is a VisionTek card with 2gig Ram & Radeon 5400. Started OK and network connects right away. I use PS/2 KB & Mouse, so OK.  No USB at present. Made a 4 gig Ram Drive (G:) which works.
Haven't checked sound yet.  Airboot seems to have an issue on an SSD, but a metal SATA boots fine.

Does anyone know what all the AMD bios settings are for? Is hyperthreading OK.  I am trying to turn them on & off to see what works, but any help appreciated.

Here with Arca 5.04 I have Firefox ESR 45.5 .   It came labeled 45.9, not sure how.
Hopefully Falkon soon on QT5 for Arca.

Mail-News / Re: Advice needed
« on: April 01, 2020, 03:54:43 am »
If you want the email on different computers/tablets and they start at various times then you would have a hard time using POP or IMAP to download and delete mail from any one computer.  I think you would need a fixed "last" computer to delete the mail from the ISP and then a routine to have it deleted from all the other computers.  Have you considered storing it on a NAS device as a central repository.  I've been able to use one for data I use under ARCA and Windows on different computers.  Just a thought.

Applications / Re:Arca Noae update service is worth it!
« on: February 21, 2020, 04:42:43 pm »
I have to agree that getting support for problems and work on updates like UEFI & USB3 is worth every penny I spend.  And sending extra $$ to BitWise, etc is a good investment in the future of OS/2 - eCS -Arca !!

Some sort of Wireless would be nice, but not as important now with good Virtual Machines.

As far as recovering data from a JFS partition/volume I had good luck with JRescuer by Pavel Shtemenko.  It's worth the small cost for time saved if you don't have a full current backup.

Sounds like a hardware issue.  Could be your drive or your ram-CPU.  Might try a new Drive first with a clone of system as drives are cheap.

Off Topic discussions / Re: Haiku gets NVMe driver
« on: April 23, 2019, 04:46:18 pm »
Would be a nice item, but certainly we need wifi, USB-3, and our updated browser before we spend much on NVME drives.   I'm still contributing to updates by BWW and Arca.   Still like my OS/2 > eCS > Arca much better than Win or Apple.
Keep up the good work Martin.

Applications / Re: Apache Open Office fail
« on: December 08, 2018, 05:24:20 pm »
Packages downloaded from BWW were:
AOO-4160-GA-base-en-US.wpi
AOO-4160-GA-langpack-en-US.wpi
AOO-4160-GA-rpm.wpi
and AOO-4160readme.txt

If you use WarpIn to open the base file it picks up and also loads the language and rpm packs.  In my case I also had to use my Arca Noae Yum installer and the info from the readme to install two more dll files.  Now everything works very well.  BitWise does great work and I have bought several support units!
