Title: SDLimage not found in OS2-games
Post by: Koti on June 19, 2020, 11:59:41 am
I downloaded some games from OS2 World Gaming Site (https://www.os2world.com/games/), but pretty much nothing works. I am using the latest ArcaOS 5.05. If I click the exe-file then just the properties dialog pops up. If I start the game from OS2-full screen prompt I get an error that file SDLimage is not found.

Hi Koti

You probably do not have all the needed sdl support files - ArcaOS installs a few but not all...

Which game(s) are involved?

You could try https://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/dev/SDL-1.2.15-20160209.zip which may or may not be the latest. You may need to put the dll files into each game directory to avoid problems with the sdl files installed in /user/lib

You may also want to bookmark hobbes as it is a large OS/2 archive and lots of useful software gets uploaded to there.

Regards

Pete

Thanks for the tip. I will try that. I know Hobbes. I am using it occasionally.

Thanks again for the tip. I downloaded the file you suggested and unzipped it in to the game directory and the game works flawlessly. I just tested with one game (Maze of Galious).

Hi Koti

Just in case I also try to list the "extra libraries" that you need on the Extra page of the games site: https://www.os2world.com/games/index.php/extra (https://www.os2world.com/games/index.php/extra)

Let me know if you fine some other game missing on the "OS2World Gaming Site" or anything else that you may suggest.

Thanks Martin. I should have checked online information first, but thought asking was the quickest way. I will  let you know, if I encounter more problems or suggestions for new games to be added to the database.
