My experience with Tame on real hardware with a USB scanner was that it worked well with the old USB drivers but stopped working when something was changes with newer drivers and Sane.

Now all the scanning I do is from my Brother colour laser via ftp.

Sorry Martin.

Are you including win 3.1 games in this category?

It might be easier to use the OS/2 version of Sim City 2000.

Hi David,

It is very simple to setup- essentially all you have to do is logon to the the wireless network and away you go.

I have attached a scan of the section of the QIG that I used for initial setup, after that if the wireless network changes it is just a matter of a few clicks in the browser and maybe typing in the network password.

I get the impression that that range extender needs to be powered from the mains which makes it useless if you are out and about.

I use a Tp-Link AC750 WiFi Travel Router that can be powered either from a mains phone chatger or directly from a USB socket. It is small and can be attached to the back of the laptop screen using velcro The setup is via a web browser.

Hi Martin,

Have you looked at the OS/2 games produced by Daniel F Valot http://dvalot.free.fr/OS2programs.html  He has some nice disk programs there as well.

Hi Doug,

I have submitted a report after checking with Lewis to see if he thought I should.

You might be on the right track regarding monitor resolution.  My old no name 1280 x 1024 monitor works as it should (I used that to set up the system in the first place).  I just borrowed a 1920 x 1080 monitor and it also works yet the Dell UltraSharp 24" monitor, that I also borrowed, running at 1920 x 1200 shows the same symptoms.

The annoying thing is that when I do get to the desktop it works extremely well which is good for my 80 year old eyes.

Hi Pete,

Tried that and when I eventually get a desktop it is at 640 x 380 resolution no matter what it was previously which means setting the resolution to 1920 x 1200 and rebooting (this is using the Panorama video driver.

I have also tried the SNAP driver with no change.

I am getting to the point of considering setting up a mini-itx box (ASRock AM1H-ITX) just for win7 and using a KVM switch to switch keyboard, monitor ans trackball then wiping win7 from the effected boxes (gets back the 700GB on the disks that could be put to better use).

The simple way to get at the data on the disks is to use vfdisk to make a 1.44 virtual floppy and then use EMT4PM to unpack the disk imthem.
EMT4PM http://dvalot.free.fr/OS2programs.html and select the program - there are also several other games and programs there.

Looking at my OS2v1.301 disks you will also need the unpack.exe from, in my case, disk3 to unpack the packed files.  Your CD should have both the disk image files as well as the files in individual directories (those are the same as if you unpacked the disk image files), you will still need the unpack.exy to unpack the individual files.

I might have my copy of OS/2v2.1 down in the garage, if I can find it I will try and unpack the necessary files for you.

Hi Doug,

I don't think you left anything out but I do have one observation regarding Air Boot.

I have two computers with Ryzen 3 2200G with built in Radeon Vega Graphics that dual boot ArcaOS and Win 7.  To actually boot ArcaOS I have to use a stop watch because I have never managed to get Air Boot to appear on any of my Samsung 24" 1920 x1200 monitors.  All the monitors show is a moving warning that the video is not in the preferred range - hitting enter at set times will bring up the Arca screen.  Win 7 also requires hitting the up arrow at the correct time bit the boot continues without doing anything else.

Boot manager has no problems with those monitors.

Tried that. The PC wouldn't boot from the Puppy Linux stick. Just prompted me to insert a valid boot device.

Is the bios set to boot from USB?  Even the MS approved UEFI requires you to select boot device order.  You may also need to go through the UEFI advanced settings and turn off secure boot and set to Legacy BIOS mode.

Hi Martin,

I updated my Linux box to the latest version of Mint and am still able to read all my OS/2 partitions, HPFS and JFS, over the network without problems.

Martin, I think you need to look on hobbes for the full SDL package.  If you search for sdl you will also find several games that use sdl there as well.

I have all the dll you mention but I got them from hobbes about 2 years ago.

Hi Pete,

Like you I have always used AMD processors since they were first available, Even the HP DL-385 server down in the garage has a pair of dual core Opteron 280 processors.

I think that many of the problems I have encountered with AMD based equipment has been because I have tried to use the cutting edge AMD processors with an operating system that hasn't got there at the time.  Once the drivers catch up I have very stable OS/2 systems.

At the moment we are limited with the Ryzen (AM4 socketed) motherboards because we don't have USB 3.0 drivers and are therefore limited to MBs having PS/2 keyboard and mouse sockets or a combined KB/Mouse PS/2 socket with USB adapters or Y cable.
The other stumbling block is the installer doesn't want to work, gives a 'not enough memory' error but there are ways around that.

Hi Pete,

Ian is most probably running the mythical USB3.0 driver we have heard about for the last few years and if that is so I would like to know what hardware it is running on (most probably Intel processors so Ryzen misses out again).
