Programming / Re: Qt6 Application Testing

Hi All

My experience is very much the opposite to David's.

I have yet to use Dooble QT6 for longer than a few minutes as it crashes almost straight away. Not uncommon to start Dooble and have it lock up the system immediately requiring a push of the Power Off button to reboot. Loading youtube.com can cause it to lock up the system. If I manage to select a video playback may attempt to start which then locks up the system. Visiting os2world can cause Dooble to lock up solid.

As it seems to work for others I can only guess that I have something missing or not at the right level somewhere...

I have Pauls latest builds installed and use Remys script, slightly modified for my system, to start Dooble. Checking ANPM all libs seem to be at current release level, no netlabs-exp packages involved. Any ideas what else to check?

Regards

Pete

Hi andrew

I found this little trick to help with boot timing problems in the past:-

Open Editor (e.exe) and Save As [BootDrive]H:\OS2\BOOT\ALTF2ON.$$$- Yes, an empty "dummy" file.

This reports every driver that it has loaded during boot which seems to help with timing issues. Also useful if boot gets stuck at some point as you can see how far booting got before failing.

Hi Remy

Just retried https://earthquakes.volcanodiscovery.com/ and it loaded, see attached image - no high cpu use, just a few minor peaks on loading.

Playing around with various links at the top of page causes dooble to close though.

Hi Remi

I just tried https://earthquakes.volcanodiscovery.com/ with latest qt6 and dooble. The result was that the page loaded enough to display then dooble closed with no log. Definitely a problem there as I tried that url 2 more times with the same result.

Hi Dave

The suggestion of using the files in @unixroot\usr\share\myspell would not work here due to a lack of @unixroot\usr\share\myspell so I pointed set QTWEBENGINE_DICTIONARIES_PATH= to the existing qt5 files which seemed to work.

Have now installed your dictionary package within the qt6 directory tree and reset QTWEBENGINE_DICTIONARIES_PATH= to point to those files.

Thanks

Pete

Hi All

Having visited  https://github.com/textbrowser/dooble/tree/master/Dictionaries  I have no idea on how to get these dictionaries.

Are they different to the Dooble_QT5 versions?

Hi Martin

Based on my recent expoerience of getting dooble_QT6 working you could add Heimdal to the list of needed packages - contains the needed GSSAPI.DLL

You could also clarify that the  yum install libvpx  is a different package to libvpx - https://smedley.id.au/tmp/libvpx-1.13.0-os2-20230303.zip  and that both packages are required.

Hi Remy

I'm using this qt5 dooble

   21-02-24   3:46p   3215039         342  Dooble.exe

available from ftp://dry@ftp.os2voice.org/Dooble_21_02_2024.zip

Also using the updated qt5webc.dll mentioned in this discussion.

No problems loading/displaying https://www.denafrips.eu/shop - no high cpu load.

Hi All

Could not download this file with Seamonkey or Dooble.

I experimented a little and found I could download the file with both browsers as long as I changed the url to
   https://rpm.netlabs.org/test/qw.7z

Hi Lars

I was just pointing out that klibcfg.ini is not involved.

I also tried when booted to the command line: unzip hangs, Ctrl-C kills it.
I would guess some required DLL files are not found when booted to command line.

Hi Lars

I do not have an %ETC%\klibcfg.ini file but unzip works when booted to the Desktop so I doubt klibcfg.ini is involved in any way.
