One thing that came to mind is I vaguely remember you can't install into a logical (JFS) partition if there is not at least one other primary partition on the drive. IIRC DFsee can setup the partitions that way but eCS can not install afterwards.

Another problem would be disks with 4k sectors. Such disk are not usable with OS/2. But is should be not a problem for you as 4k sector disks are usually > 1TB big. And the 2TB 4k disks I've seen does have a 512B sector compatibility mode.

I tried it long ago but had problems. Anyway just test again. I do not see an option to select the output folder, is there any?

And can AVxCAT convert into subfolder with name of Album?

I've currently installed v1.2.5 - have to search for current version though.

Just tried 1.3.5 and seems to work. One problem View - Open target folder still opens e:\home\defaul\.avxcat instead the Target I selected.

Another problem is the font for 'Add files' 'Add dir' looks not very good. See attached picture.

The file/directory select dialog is kind of strange in my opinion. Maybe a CUA dialog or FOC would be a good choice.

Anyway thanks for you work on AVXCAT. Have to test more.

I guess the problem is jripper starts both cdda2wav and flac at the same time - flac starts before cdda2wav has extracted the wav from CD. Maybe jripper does not get notified when flac is conversion is done and so does not start cdda2wav for the next track. But that's much guessing.

As a work around I now encode to wav and do the conversion to flac afterwards. So no need for jripper to control both cdda2wav and flac (or lame). This works.

Doug, is there any reason why you suggest this old build instead the current rpm version? yum install dhclient give the the latest version from netlabs.org. The netlabs version is also checked into the official repository. It is tested and adopted to xwlan too. So why do you stick with this special build.

Hardware / Re: How to turn OFF monitor DPMS ???
« on: September 13, 2015, 11:13:32 am »
I never got DPMS off working on my machine with X300 and SNAP. So I use my own compiled blackout (black.exe) for this job. On the second machine with Panorama DPMS off does not work too. I ever wonder if this works for any other...

Could it be you're using blackout package too (or similar) and forgot you installed it?

Another option maybe your bios switches video off. Although I only saw such options with Notebooks it maybe worth to check.

Ian, I wonder if it really works for you for more than the 1 track?

I tried your versions of cdda2wav and flac with java1.6 and java1.41 but as said, it hangs after the first track.

Utilities / Re: Diff Tool

Not mentioned until now is my preferred - Diffzilla included in VisualSlickEdit. SmartSync sometimes even better synchronizes on changed code blocks in source code but is Java and so needs more resources. Both are able to compare files and whole directory trees.

Older versions of BeyondCompare runs with the help of Odin.

Applications / Which program to use for ripping audio CDs to flac?
« on: August 30, 2015, 11:19:42 am »
Unfortunately jRipper packed by Ronald (rbri.org) does not work here. It seems to do exactly what I need. Simple front end, freedb, ripping into folder. Problem is it only rippes the first track of a CD. After that it hangs. Cancel button does not work too. Seems jRipper could not start the cdda2wav again for the second track and so waits endless. No difference between the java1.41 and java1.6 version.

Does jRipper work for anyone of you?

Which program do you use to rip CDs to flac?

...a bunch of unlock output and as the DLLs weren't locked it wasn't very informative.
If you want to suppress unlock output you can use the unlock.exe included in ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/wlan/xwlan312beta3.zip with >>NULL. Unfortunately all unlock.exes shipped with recent eCS have broken output redirection.

Thanks Dave for your work on building SM/... and the support you give in different places. I already planned to wait for bww FF38 and your SM 2.35 (which will come shortly afterwards I hope ;) ). Only if you have an urgent need for some test immediately I will install 2.28.

de_AT is not much different to de_DE or de_CH. To be more precise I do not care very much about the differences. My wife needs German menus for SM (browser and email). German dictionary would be fine too. I need working Chatzilla and my wish is a working Lightning with google synchronization as OwnCloud does not really work on my OS/2 test machine.

Btw. I played some videos from youtube yesterday and discovered that SM produces stable sound while latest bww FF plays the same video only with jerky sound. Moreover a lot of times FF plugin_container starts to use 100% cpu power until I kill it. Hope Dmitriy can fix this with next version.

Hijacking this SM thread - Dave, I use your SM builds since a long time. Usually I update when you release a new version. But it's a bit time consuming updating with language packs, addons and checking all email accounts and so on and unfortunately I currently have some shortage of spare time ;) So I want to ask before testing the latest greatest again.

One problem I encounter again and again with different builds is Lightning can not upstream calendar changes to google.com/calendar. It read from there but can not write (read only flag cleared of course although it gets set automatically after unsuccessful synchronization).

The problem is even worse as in some state it seems to blocks SM (DNS?) requests or SM java scripts so surfing is not possible anymore (it takes ages to load some pages with all these cross scripting these days). So I had to deinstall Lightning with every version I tested so far when I finally found out Lightning triggers these problems.

Question, which version of SM works smoothly together with which version of Lightning and google calendar? Does anyone else discover similar problems with SM? It waits a very long time for loading data from the net? Seems it waits for some TCP/IP timeout and eventually it comes up with the requested page. Starting latest bww FF in parallel get the same pages without problems. So it is not the fault of my louse network connection but a SM problem.

Btw. I've a clean yum/rpm environment without wrong dlls. SM and FF (with RUN!), AOO, VPC, VBOX works since years. So I consider myself a good tester if you suggest a stable combination of SM, Chatzilla and Lightning. Beyond your setup I need working de_AT language packs which makes things a bit more expensive.

Hm I thought you cannot anymore install eCS on FAT, can you?

Anyway, that is off-topic.
I never installed any OS/2 on FAT. Ever used HPFS and since years JFS for boot volume. But my first primary partition on the first hard disk usually holds a DOS system which is on FAT.

String in PREVPHASEDATA is "eCS" only. In \os2\install\syslevel.ecs there is 1.2. But on newer installs there is no 2.1. So no clue how to find the correct version. But it is heavily updated anyway since installation.

and if running some older kernels
T42p hibernates successfully with 14.104 kernel. Not tried latest 106er. But it takes about 1'25'' to wake up with 1.5GB RAM.

Interesting. What system version do you run?
Some eCS with most updates available. Base was eCS1.2DE or 2.1DE but don't know anymore. How to find out?
