General Discussion / Re: OS2World Site Update
« on: March 18, 2025, 10:11:11 pm »
    Hi Again GG
  • Its "look" is less "compact" - unless I missed some well hidden user options to customize the Joomla interface
I'm not sure what I can do here. Was it more "condensed/crused" to the center before? This template has two settings, fixed size and flexible (which means will take all the screen resolution). Maybe the flexible size way is not something that we will like. I also think it changes according the screen resolution and font size on each computer.
[/list]

Comparing the two pictures with the same resolution. Do you mean the line (and/or space) that is between each news, on each widget(square) showing the news?
Is that what you mean with "compact" ?

Hello GG

Thanks for the feedback.

  • There's no way to check if a followed forum discussion has been updated at a glance (No "new" flag) - unless there's a way to do it by any other means
Sadly I think I can not do much here. The script/plugin that showed the "new" icon the forum widget in the main page it's gone. It is not supported anymore and died with Joomla 3. I made a PHP script (with a lot of cursing :) ) that shows the latest forum posts to replace that script/plugin. But let me try the weekend, since I remember that SMForum had something to let you know if a post is "new", but I will have to test it.

Web applications / Re: OS2World URL Redirect
« on: March 17, 2025, 03:45:25 pm »
Hello

Neil, today I talked to the webmaster and we have redirected the URLs.
Now if someones goes os2world.com  or www.os2world.com should get to the same site.

Let me know if there is something wrong.

Internet / Re: Dooble releases-Qt6
« on: March 16, 2025, 05:06:33 pm »
Since OS2WORD changed its code, I found an issue I think is under FIREFOX and DOOBLE while this doesn't exist under FIREFOX windows
(or a missing code to correctly identify browser width size, environment dependant "CSS" ?)

Sorry Remy, as I explained before, I needed the update the Joomla script on OS2World because I was falling behind with the version and PHP forces to go further or get your server hacked.

The only behaviour that I can explain is:
- Dooble for Windows (narrow) - If the window is narrow it re-accommodate the size layout.
- Dooble for WIndows - if the window is stretch enough it looks as it should. FINE.
- Dooble for OS/2 - Qt5 - No matter how narrow or stretch is the window, the layout looks re-accomodated.
- Otter for Windows - No matter how narrow or stretch is the window, the layout looks re-accomodated.
- Otter for OS/2 - Qt5 - No matter how narrow or stretch is the window, the layout looks re-accomodated.

Just in case I will ask in the Otter forum about why the Windows version is not displaying OS2World fine.

Hello

Just a question here about cdda2wav.exe, (it is compiled on 2007-08-24), it references to libc05.dll (which is included). Do you think it will be desirable to recompile it to reference the libc that is included in ArcaOS ?

cdda2wav is included in cdrtools, right?

Hi Dave

Some came with source code and some don't. Where should I put the source code in the FHS?
Should the source code be unziped there, or just like a zip file?

Regards

If you have the source code (e.g. as archive file) i think that you can put it under :
(something I do when using @unixroot)
all .zip;.tar;.wpi   to   /usr/src/<name of package>

Thanks. I will try later if "%{_usrsrc}" works for us.

Here I'm trying mp3gain.

No icon creation is done or needed, i think.
I guess this port is "pentium4"

Hello.

I found this news at Slashdot.org
- https://news.slashdot.org/story/25/03/11/1446251/firefox-certificate-expiration-threatens-add-ons-streaming-on-march-14

"A critical root certificate expiring on March 14, 2025 will disable extensions and potentially break DRM-dependent streaming services for Firefox users running outdated browsers. Users must update to at least Firefox 128 or ESR 115.13+ to maintain functionality across Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android platforms.

The expiration additionally compromises security infrastructure, including blocklists for malicious add-ons, SSL certificate revocation lists, and password breach notifications. Even those on legacy operating systems (Windows 7/8/8.1, macOS 10.12รข"10.14) must update to minimum ESR 115.13+."

I was wondering how this affect us, since we are at Firefox 45. Is it possible to get affected with malicious sites? or this just for Add-ons?

Article Discussions / Re: RPM Packages - 2025 (Pentium 4)
« on: March 12, 2025, 02:23:47 am »
Hello

I modified DataSeeker based in the suggestions. And I also wanted to go deep on the icons creations.

But I'm not sure if I made it the optimal way to create the readme and copying icons.

Quote
DATASEEK_READ:WPProgram|Read Me|<DATASEEK_FOLDER>|EXENAME=e.exe;PROGTYPE=PROG_PM;PARAMETERS=((%{_datadir}/doc/%{name}-%{version}/DataSeek.txt));OPEN=RUNNING

DATASEEK_LIC:WPProgram|License|<DATASEEK_FOLDER>|EXENAME=e.exe;PROGTYPE=PROG_PM;PARAMETERS=((%{_datadir}/licenses/%{name}-%{version}/COPYING));OPEN=RUNNING

Any suggestion are welcome?

Regards

Note: I reuploaded the files with some changes.

Hello

So, the suggestion for Data Seeker will be to put on 386, mostly for old hardware that uses RPM. I guess it will not produce any problem on modern hardware that it's default platform is pentium4.
