I found that there are .ISO files for OS/2 Warp at the Winworld site.

I am checking it out. I was able to download a couple of the files.

General Discussion / OS/2 Warp at the Internet Archive?
« on: November 23, 2023, 04:21:13 am »
I was doing a search at the Internet Archive and came across an OS/2 Warp section.
https://archive.org/details/ibm_warpclient_cp2_v4_52_boot
It seems one can download the .ISO file? I am checking it out.

Hardware / Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-141AP and ArcaOS 5.0.7?
« on: October 09, 2023, 05:53:35 pm »
I have an Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-141AP that I am trying to get ArcaOS to install on. I was able to get the .iso onto an USB flash drive. I was able - after many attempts and checking online - to get to the BIOS. I changed the it for UEFI to Legacy. I had the USB drive as the first one to boot from. It still doesn't install ArcaOS onto it. I am still working on it. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

update: I just checked again. It was set for legacy at boot but the UEFI was listed first to boot. It has been changed to legacy being first to boot.

Off Topic discussions / John Poole Software Operating System/5?
« on: August 31, 2023, 07:36:46 pm »
I came across this video and website showing called OS/5 by John Poole Software. I thought it was interesting.
https://youtu.be/xaTelXsXNRU?si=M38TFnjPSyagE63V
One can still download it?

Here is the information on it from the video on YouTube
'
OS/5 is a Shareware PC operating system based on a Microsoft programming language that itself was rarely used. Intended to be an inexpensive, lightweight alternative to Windows, OS/2, and other graphical user interfaces, OS/5's Desktop runs in text mode while retaining many GUI features. Created by John Poole and released in 1996, two versions of it are known to exist, and would have been lost entirely if I had not saved them over 25 years ago, because they have not been archived anywhere online and trying to search for OS/5 or its author will turn up nothing except this video.

Hardware / ArcaOS on a HP EliteBook 840 G3?
« on: May 14, 2023, 02:33:10 am »
I have a HP EliteBook 803 G3 that I am trying to install the ArcaOS 5 on. I have an USB optical disc drive attached. the laptop doesn't have an operating system on it; none whatsoever. I got it to seemingly boot from the USB optical drive but it doesn't seem to go farther than that. I tried to get it to boot from the optical drive but it doesn't. could my optical disc be a problem? should I make another disc? should I try making a bootable USB flash drive? what size flash drive should I use?  8)

I am looking forward to using ArcaOS on this laptop. Any help given will be appreciated. Thanks.

I wonder how many other operating systems can one install on this? It indicates Linux and Windows 10.

I think it is neat and compact. It is like a tablet computer with a keyboard.

I wonder if one could install OS/2 Warp, eComStation or ArcaOS onto it?

I think it is a neat little computer.

Hardware / ArcaOS 5.00 on an Lenovo IdeaPad?
« on: October 12, 2018, 03:20:58 am »
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad that I am trying to install ArcaOS 5.0 on. It gets to 'internal revision 14.200_SMP' and stops. It goes no farther. It was on sale at Best Buy store (said it did not have a power adapter but it was in the box).

Lenovo IdeaPad 120S_14IAP
BIOS 6GCN20WW
MIM 81A5001UUS
Lenovo SN F82819E1-E701-0818-062808000000
CPU Intel Celeron CPU N3350 @ 1.10GHZ
SYSTEM MEMORY 2048 MB
eMMC CARD SANDISK iNAND 32GB
PREINSTALLED OS LICENSE SDKOJ91216 WIN
OA3 KEY ID 3259110085699
OA2 N

BOOT MODE LEGACY  - OPTION UEFI
BOOK PRIORITY - LEGACY OPITON UEFI

SATA SSD
eMMC CARD SANDISH iNAND 32GB

This is the information I copied from the bios. I will check the box to see if there is any more information there.

I had tried it on another computer. It installed but with limitations. This IdeaPad is bigger and newer.

I tried to change the settings on the installation of the ArcaOS but the keys did not seem to function - the tab did for a short time but it froze up.

Any help would be appreciated.

It indicates it is a 'pocket pc' since it has an X86 processor. Perhaps this means it could run different operating systems?

General Discussion / OS/2 at WinWorld Libary?
« on: January 09, 2018, 05:37:45 am »
I was at another forum and found this link. It is WinWorld Libary. They have an OS/2 section.
https://winworldpc.com/library/operating-systems
They also have a section for DOS / CP/M, Windows and Apple/MAC, *nix and 'other OS and Shells'. They have files for these operating systems that one can download. Has anyone tried any of them?

Hardware / ArcaOS 5.0 on an Aspire One Computer.
« on: October 01, 2017, 12:18:27 am »
I finally got around to trying the ArcaOS 5.0 operating system. It is on an Aspire One D255E with an Intel Atom N455 (1.6 ghz) with 512 KB cache, 1 GB DDR3 memory, 250 GB HDD, and a 6 cell Li-On battery. It has sound. I can use an USB mouse. I don't think it sees / detects the wifi port.

I tried to change the wallpaper but I have yet to find where it is that changes it.

With eCS, it did not see a flash drive that was attached. I will see if it does or does not.

I am so glad it works with it. The next step is to tweak it. Perhaps upgrade to 5.01? I will try different software with it. It can use the USB optical drive.

I am one happy nerdy camper.

I think this is neat. I like the 'eraser head' track pin. I like it better than using the touchpad. I am still trying to get used to a touchpad but I prefer using a mouse; wireless nowadays. Perhaps call it retro?

General Discussion / Change the Forum Headings?
« on: December 05, 2016, 05:54:45 pm »
Perhaps one could change the forum headings from 'OS2 eCS' to OS2 eCS BL' so that Blue Lion is considered part of it?
 ;D
