I'm currently running OS/2 Warp 4 as a guest OS under VirtualBox 7.0.6 without any major problems and I like how support for OS/2 Warp under VirtualBox has significantly improved over the years.
My host machine is Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x64 on a AMD-FX 4300 quad-core processor with 32 GB of RAM (maxed out on the motherboard) and 2 GB VRAM.My guest OS is OS/2 Warp 4 FP17 (Internal Revision 14.104a_W4 Uniprocessor, 2005-08-11) running with 512 MB of RAM and 64 MB VRAM.
I used to run  OS/2 Warp 4 under Virtual PC 2007 SP! when I was on Windows 8.1 Pro, but I had to move it to a Windows 2000 VMware VM running it under Virtual PC 2004 SP1.

On this Netbeans page you have a dead link to "netbeans-7.3.1-netbeans-7.3.1-201306052037-javase.zip"
I found this one working:
That's the same file, different source.

1) I don't know if deleting the "Locale" files are mandatory or optional, since just in case I want to keep the spanish things there.
I got problems with that the command line did grow beyond what's the maximum size, so I got errors. If you look at the locale files then a lot can go because you probably never compile a program for that particular language. After done that I could run the program and I did compile something like "Hello world" or so.

[C:\netbeans]i:\utils\unzip -n C:\netbeans\nb\nbos2icons.zip -d C:\var\temp
You always have to check my cmd files because no one has the same setup in OS//2.

Netbeans changed the way everything is called later on, but those versions are not for us unless we get a new release of Java with a much higher version, even 11 is running out of date.

Hi Joop

On this Netbeans page you have a dead link to "netbeans-7.3.1-netbeans-7.3.1-201306052037-javase.zip"
I found this one working:

I followed your instructions, and I was sure to get the full "openjdk6_b27_sdk_os2_ga5-20130217.zip" on C:\PROGRAMS\OPENJDK

1) I don't know if deleting the "Locale" files are mandatory or optional, since just in case I want to keep the spanish things there.

2) I got this issue
Quote
[C:\netbeans\bin]netbeans.cmd --os2-install

[C:\netbeans]i:\utils\unzip -n C:\netbeans\nb\nbos2icons.zip -d C:\var\temp
SYS0015: The system cannot find the specified drive.
'NetBeans 7.3.1' folder created.
'NetBeans IDE 7.3.1' program object created.
'NetBeans Home' URL object created.
'NetBeans 7.3.1 README' URL object created.
'NetBeans 7.3.1 CREDITS' URL object created.
'NetBeans 7.3.1 Release Notes' URL object created.
SYS0002: The system cannot find the file specified.
SYS0002: The system cannot find the file specified.
SYS0002: The system cannot find the file specified.

It is because "i:\utils\unzip" is not in that location for me.  Easy fix, I fixed and worked.

3) I run the recently created "NetBeans IDE 7.3.1" inside the folder on the desktop.  It runs for a little while and stops.
Where can I get more info or log of what happened ?

If I run it by command line I get:
Quote
[C:\NETBEANS\BIN]netbeans.cmd
C:\NETBEANS
C:\NETBEANS\platform\lib
SYS1065: The input line is too long.

Regards

Hi Ivan

I use a .cmd script to run the java applications, but Netlabs and Eclipse seems to be more complex to execute.

Did you download netbeans.zip and did you read README.OS2? Of  course not...,otherwise you didn't  have this remark....

Programming / Re: Qt6 Application Testing

Tried the new complete 6.3.2 20230318 version and it has the same behaviors and limitations as before with one exception I see so far: I can now print a web page! At least ones that will display, many cause the browser to crash (including OS2World). Other apps seem to work as well as before and examples have the same limitations (QML and Quick don't work). I'll give 6.4.3 a shot next...thanks!

Thanks Dave - yeah the webpages crashes is a PITA - I've started at the exceptq trap and it's not telling me much ;( Need to drink some wine this afternoon and hope it inspires me :)

Thanks to some valuable insight from Steven Levine, I'm hoping that the next build of qtwebengine 6.3.2 will be a bit more useful. Unfortunately, it decided it wanted to do a full rebuild, so I won't know until tomorrow!

Hardware / Re: USX keyboard layout
« Last post by Alfredo Fernández Díaz on Today at 09:05:23 am »
I know the US International keyboard layout refuses to load on my system because I use codepage 932 (Japanese) as my secondary codepage.

That's strange -- what is your system with CP932 as the secondary codepage?
USX does load here albeit with a translation table for CP437 instead of CP932, which is normal because USX for CP932 is not present in the MCP2 DCP (nor the current one in ArcaOS), see the attached pic.

I wonder if a modified DCP would allow that...
I am pretty sure it would (here, anyway) so a new DCP can be built. The question, though, is what could be put in there? I mean, other than the ¥, which does work already, what other special characters of USX are present in CP932?

I cant believe I missed the face that file moved and needed to be updated. Oh well. Now I have the fun of waiting for almost 11000 files to rebuild!

Well I can report that your March 11 drivers work fine. Now that I have my no sound issue worked out. Something was wrong with the MMPM.ini. So it was not the drivers fault. The sound card is on an ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0.
