I've used Resmgr (from Hobbes) in the past - too long ago to recall any details.

IIRC Dialog Enhancer was incorporated into the eCS and AN desktops.

@Martin ePDF 2.99.7 is on Hobbes. I used it at one time, switched to pmpdf.

Comments, Suggestions & Questions / Re: SIO2K Ray Gwinn

I was at one time a registered SIO2k user but had to revert to com.sys for reasons I can't remember any more(!) The attached file is a zip of the directory created by the installation. To install, unpack it where you want it to be and follow the instructions for manual installation in install.txt - basically just adding config.sys entries. I've tested this and the drivers seem to load ok, but I couldn't test with any hardware attached to the COM port.

Is Ko Myung-Hun's build of libtool any help? (My build environment hasn't worked for several years so I'm well off the pace here.)

Openssh: see http://www.altsan.org/os2/utils/ This requires security/2 and some other stuff. Or use ANPM if possible to make sure you pick up all prerequisites.

Hi Renee. I haven't yet found any alternative to turning on 'access for less secure apps' in google settings. I've also changed Thunderbird's security setting to (IIRC) password, securely transmitted. Google doesn't like this, but so far the sky hasn't fallen on my head.

You can unpack .dsk images with diunpack or dskxtrct (which IIRC does more checking.) Both can be found on Hobbes.

There's a program called wget you can use to download website content from Linux / Unix.  I created a default Ubuntu OS in VirtualBox, went to the terminal, typed a few commands and retrieved website content locally.

You can find wget for OS/2 on (e.g.) Hobbes.  :)

Applications / Re: Using a scanner with hplip?
« on: April 19, 2019, 07:09:21 pm »
Hi Pete. I think you should be able to use hpaio.

I have a HP deskjet 2510 usb all-in-one. On  eCS 2.2b2 I've got the 'old' type standard CUPS installation in the root of the boot drive. I'm using hpaio 3.15.11 with hplip 3.15.11, both installed in the root of the boot drive. With this setup printing doesn't work, but following Paul's instructions I have scanning working. I've set SANE_DEFAULT_DEVICE to the value obtained by hp-mkuri, so if I type in (e.g.)

scanimage --resolution 300 >foo.jpg

it works as intended. I'm not sure how to make things work in Tame - IIRC you must add a key to scanner.dat, which can be done with an INI file editor - but I don't know what values to use, or how one is supposed to determine them.

On ArcaOS I installed CUPS via anpm into my usr tree, which isn't on the boot drive, and created a printer using Alex Taylor's printer manager. Printing worked fine (until the last upgrade, when it mysteriously stopped working.)  I'm using the same hpaio and have hplip in the root of the boot drive, but if I run hp-mkuri or scanimage - not a sausage. But YMMV.

I hope this helps a bit - and if anyone has any idea why scanimage &co won't start, any suggestions would be welcome.

I've found WPSdump ( http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/util/wps/wpsdump-0.1.zip ) quite useful. It can save and restore  a single folder as well as the whole desktop, and has the option to skip replacement of objects which already exist on the new desktop.

Applications / Re: Help! Need to fix yum.
« on: July 12, 2016, 03:00:30 pm »
Check your system and make sure there is not another version of NSPR4K.DLL on your LIBPATH that would confuse YUM.

...by doing
which -la nspr4k.dll

You can find  'which' at http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/util/disk/which215.zip
Other versions exist but not all of them can search for libraries.

Hello John. Nice to hear from you again. Have you checked that you have all the required dependencies? PMdll ( http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/util/system/pmdll-2.12.zip) is a good tool for this.

Setup & Installation / Re: Problem installing eCups 2.1
« on: April 21, 2016, 01:31:32 pm »
Me again. I uninstalled the WarpIn  cups base, filters and HPLIP packages, then reinstalled from the zip files, leaving the wizard, port and ecups-HP driver in place. I created a printer using the wizard. Test print from the web interface worked on second attempt, and I can print ok from OpenOffice. Make of that what you will.
