 Thanks Paul,

 Working well here on bare metal and in a VIrtualBox.  I see the same as Martin with VirtualBox using the AC97 driver, plus it will sometimes play back at the wrong speed. No problems here using the HD audio driver though (volume app set to 100%), so I stick with that. I suspect these issues in VirtualBox are VirtualBox's problems. No trouble on bare metal.

Paul,

  The new QT6 libs seem to work great. Maybe just confirmation bias, but also seem to make the QT6 Dooble more stable with complicated javascript sites (like news websites). One thing I still see is playing videos will eventually hang the browser and/or the system. If playing videos is kept to a minimum, everything stays stable. Thanks!

Paul,

 file:///c:\config.sys does not work on QT5. I haven't seen that happen when opening files from dialogs, so I don't think it is a big problem. Thanks for the new QT6 libs - I'll give them a try now...

 Hi Rémy,

 That page seems to work OK here - though I am using a virtual box with only 1 CPU to run ArcaOS. Also have the blocked domain list installed to avoid ads. It does seem very slow to load, but I don't see a high CPU load. Maybe try Dave's latest 2024/08/20 version (link earlier in the thread) and see if that helps.

 Thanks for remembering Lars, and thanks Tom for the link! It does indeed work with the QT5 version of Dooble, so don't need to be moving things around - great! The file is gigantic - I wonder if it could be Lxlite'd? Here's hoping Paul can add this to the QT6 version too...

 Hey, thanks everyone for looking into this bug. Too bad it isn't as straight forward as I hoped. I have other QT apps (like Scribus) that handle drive letters just fine, but I guess the QT Webengine complicates everything. Unless Lars' recollection leads to a solution, I'll probably just break down and move PMMail to %UNIXROOT% and delete the drive letter when I need to see HTML emails (usually for paying bills)...

 Thanks Dave - it's working well here!

 There is a long standing bug in Dooble on OS/2 where if you try to open an HTML file, it always says 'Your file couldn't be accessed' even though you just clicked on it. However, if that file is on your %UNIXROOT% drive (say C:), and you remove 'C:' from the address bar with that file name on it, the file is displayed. If it is not on the %UNIXROOT% drive, removing, say 'D:' does not help and can not be displayed.

 The implication is the code is using a Linux standard to find the file (no drive letters) so it works this way only on the %UNIXROOT% drive. But the Windows version of Dooble does use drive letters and it does work, so it seems there must be a code path available to use drive letters when displaying files if needed.

 Are you familiar with this? Has it been looked at in the past? The reason it is important to me is I would like to use Dooble to display e-mail messages from PMMail, but it doesn't work because PMMail is not on %UNIXROOT% so even removing the drive letter doesn't help in that case. Seems like there should be a straight forward solution to this, if the proper code was identified...

My client is on a different computer from the Server.  Starting smbd and nmbd from command prompts doesn't seem to help - still get 'access denied' message on client when trying to browse and ends up with a hang on the server.

  The client works well with your version 4.19.7 built with gcc 9.

  I have troubles with the server though (installed using the SSCC app). Once again, winbindd.exe hangs the machine solid and need to do a hard reset. I renamed winbindd.exe so it wouldn't run and now the server runs. I can browse and use files from Windows, but as soon as I try to use OS/2 (with the new client) I get a 'access denied' message and the server locks solid, and needs a hard reset. Going back to 4.19.7 everything works again.

 The 2Rosenthals repo gives the same 'malformed' error here as the netl;abs-rel repo (which I would expect if it is a mirror). I already had the arcanoae-rel repo installed, but it doesn't have the same files as the netlabs-rel repo. Dave, I'm curious what you get if in ANPM, you click on 'Available'->'RPM' in the left pane, then in the 'repositories' dropdown at upper right, click on 'arcanoae-rel'. Here I just get a list of about 12 packages

 Even the 2Rosenthals repo doesn't work for me - same 'disk image is malformed' error as with the netlabs-rel repo - even after a yum cleaning. So the bit rot seems to be spreading. The ArcaNoae-rel repo Dave suggests only has about a dozen or so files listed (which was already installed here).

 This situation is very bad...

Hey Neil,

  That's really strange, 8086:a348 is a sound chip: 'https://linux-hardware.org/?id=pci:8086-a348-1043-86c7'. Are you sure it is NetDrive giving the error? OSSS32 also implies UniAud somehow (it is based on ALSA). If really NetDrive, are you using some plugin besides smb?

 Weirdly, if I try to run winbindd in a command prompt by itself (without first starting smbd or nmbd) I get a message that says it cannot be run in an OS/2 session...

 Hi Steven,

  Thanks for the process dump guidance - it turns out smbd is not the problem...

  I originally installed SAMBA using the last Netlabs SAMBA WPI and it worked well. This has a utility - 'Simple SAMBA Configuration Center' that allows to update the basic SAMBA files from a zip file and I have done that with every drop from Paul up to now.

 To start SAMBA, the Netlabs 'smb.cmd' file starts smbd, nmbd, and winbindd from the Startup folder.

 After the latest drop, after the server froze, rebooted then renamed smb.cmd from the <alt>F1 menu command prompt. Then followed your instructions to capture a process dump, but there was no hang, and no file captured. Clients (OS/2 and Windows) could browse the share.

 Then started nmbd from another command prompt, and again there was no hang. Clients could browse.

 Then started winbindd from another command prompt and the server froze.

 So it appears winbindd is the culprit here...

  Couldn't get to CADH - no mouse or keyboard input was working. I have some more time today, so I'll try again and see if I can get it to work. If not, I'll try to get a dump.
