Storage / Re: JFS - Trap 0003 - anyone?
« on: January 07, 2022, 09:55:01 pm »
I also see these Trap0003 in JFS every once in a while (maybe 3 times a year?). Always after chkdsk runs, some cache files for SeaMonkey are either restored or not. Always thought it was a SeaMonkey problem, but maybe not?

Hi Roberto,

I use SeaMonkey (rather unstable) and would like to try this, but it's not clear how to use it. Can you describe how to use and what it does? Also, does it matter what version of SeaMonkey 2.42.9 ESR to use? Dave Y has made a few, and so has Bitwiseworks and I think even Arca Noae. Thanks for any hints...

 Hey Mark,

Wim Brul created a 'USB Extended Control Driver' ( https://home.hccnet.nl/w.m.brul/usbprobe/index.html ) for USB devices without drivers. Maybe that could be a starting point for a joystick? Would have to interface with the software somehow though. Maybe you could e-mail Wim and ask his opinion about using his driver for your games.

Thanks Paul! This one still works with the Realtek sound jack, but no HDMI - testlog attached. I assume unimix -card should show 2 adapters present if HDMI works?

 Hey Paul,

I attached testlog uniaud for my computer, which has HDMI video and monitor does have speakers (that work with Windows). I currently use the sound jack on the back of the computer for OS/2 sound, but would be nice to just use the monitor via HDMI. No sign of HDMI sound in the log that I can see though... using your latest 5.14.7 driver.

 Hey Lars,

I struggled with this too, and reported  here: https://github.com/bitwiseworks/python-os2/issues/6

Long story short: you need to use 'yum update python'. This installs both the new python2 and python3. But it doesn't seem to work if you are using the pentium4 platform, only works with i686, at least not for me.

 Hey Dariusz,

Any chance you have more than one version of gtls30.dll on your system? I have one in C:\usr\lib dated 4/4/2020 and no trouble running that CUPS version here...

Paul,

Now we're talking - or I can hear it! 5.13 is making sounds here and seems to work well - thanks again, you're aces...

 Paul,

My experience is the same as Martin's with both versions (release and debug)- it seems to load fine, PMUniMix works, but no sound. Also can't play any WAV or MP3 file. Alsahlp$ attached...

 Hi Andi,

It's tricky to edit MMPM2.INI properly. I'll attach my attempt to edit yours to include UniAud - rename the attached file MMPM2.INI (can't upload *.INI files here apparently). Would be good if Lars could check it too. Make sure to backup your original MMPM2.INI file, and be prepared to replace it if necessary.

Might be better to try to un-install UniAud (using WarpIn), reboot, then re-install UniAud using the latest official version. It could be that the install detects UniAud as already installed, so does not update MMPM2.INI.

Hi Andi,

Just had another look at your uniaud log file and it looks like UniAud was never properly installed because there are no [UNIAUDxxx] sections in your MMPM2.INI file. Try re-installing using the latest AN version (Uniaud-20210320.wpi) which should create those sections for you. Reboot and see if it works...

 Hi Andi,

I looked at your files and was surprised to see you have the identical sound hardware as myself (Realtek ALC887-VD). Here it works perfectly. One thing I notice in your testlog file is this:

----- Checking G:\CONFIG.SYS ---------------------------------------------------
ERROR: DEVICE=G:\IBMCOM\MACS\MMRE.OS2
ERROR: DEVICE=G:\IBMCOM\MACS\E100B.OS2
ERROR: DEVICE=G:\IBMCOM\MACS\E1000B.OS2
Load order violation. All MAC drivers must come after all
IFS statements and all network drivers

Maybe correcting those errors (by putting those lines at the end of CONFIG.SYS) might help?

 Hi Paul,

5.10.45 is working good here... thanks again!

@ Eugene - get PMUniMix 0.82 from Hobbes and run it. There may be volume controls that default to zero. I have one HP laptop that needs them turned up to work...

Applications / Re: patched PmMerge
« on: June 13, 2021, 06:04:21 pm »
Been running this test PMMERGE.DLL for a couple hours now and it seems OK. One thing I notice is a 3 note beep from the system speaker right when the desktop appears at boot. This doesn't happen when using the ArcaOS PMMERGE. Not sure if this is a signal from the test version, or some other system component complaining...

 Hey Martin,

Mouse seems a bit squirrelly here - left click shoots, right click moves forward, but moving side to side causes weird jerky turning movements, so I use the left/right arrow keys for that. Moving forward and backwards (by pushing mouse forwards or backwards) sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Another thing I noticed is a message in the console saying fluidsynth is not initialized,  using BSP nodes (even though fluidsynth is chosen as midi player in settings)- but it seems sound works OK.
