2Valery, https://efbe.musca.uberspace.de/ is Franks build machine, he builds from the official sources and targets OS/2 and is where I was pointed to by the OW developers, mostly Frank, a couple of years ago. Steven also works on the official tree and periodically applies OS/2 fixes and has done some work to support high memory amongst other stuff IIRC. I have no idea about the source on Netlabs or where it originated but Franks server is the go to place for semi-official OS/2 builds based on the daily snapshots

I built the netlabs betas from the official sources as of the date they were built. Beta 3 includes adding support for the WINDOW keyword in wrc.exe, Those changes were all committed so if Frank's is a daily from the official sources it contains the same fixes. The code in the repository for wl and wrc is unchanged since the beta 3.

The RPM packages are from the same build as the beta 3.

Then there is probably something either in startup.cmd or a startup folder. Startup.cmd is in the root of your boot drive if you have one. Look for a line that starts with "net start" and remove it if present. If you don't find that look in your startup folder.

At desktop startup, this command window appears and keeps it busy for around 15 seconds before autoclosing, how can I disable it ?

Open the network folder then open Sharing and Connections. If it ask you to logon the USERID is USERID and the PASSWORD is PASSWORD. After logging on you may need to double click the icon again. On the front page at the bottom is a checkbox that says reconnect at startup (or something close to that) uncheck it. That should stop peer from loading the requester on startup.

It is in the experimental directory tree. Libc 0,6.6-38 and libcx 0.6.3-1 are in the same directory.

Very good job, and thanks for the language translation.
saludos

Thanks

I am guessing you are talking about the translation in the warpin. That is actual the produce of my not having the warpin build stuff from 1.40. It is the pre 1.40 warpin build system. This installs all the language packs by default. In 1.40 you had to install them individually (except English)

If you got it with ArcaOS it probably only installed English and you would need to find the Lucide warpin on the iso to install anything else.  Note you will find some English mixed in with the other languages.

The documentation hasn't been updated either.  If anyone is interested in updating the translations let me know.

This wasn't really intended for release at this stage. Feed back on any issues would be appreciated.

Lucide 1.4.1 requires libc 0.6.6-38, libcx 0.6.3-1 and Poppler 0.59.0. They are available from the netlabs-exp RPM repository.
Not 0.49.0?

You need 0.59.0 it has only been on netlabs-exp for a couple of weeks. It contains popple70.dll

After downloading and installing the wpi the pdf plugin is installed but it does not work. When I open the plugin it shows "OS / 2 executable module built for kLIBC v0.6.4 +" but the latest version available in rpm is 0.6.2-1
saludos

Lucide 1.4.1 requires libc 0.6.6-38, libcx 0.6.3-1 and Poppler 0.59.0. They are available from the netlabs-exp RPM repository. Beta 9 requires pmprintf.dll in the lib path beta 10 doesn't. The Poppler update was required to fix traps when loading large files.  If you have additional problems please either post back to the Lucide groups (where the betas came from) or put in a ticket at http://trac.netlabs.org/lucide Thanks

Article Discussions / Re: Translating ArcaOS to local languages
« on: September 30, 2018, 10:31:02 pm »
BTW: The only useful conversion of an INF or HLP file to anything is that of NewView. It converts to IPF, but still has some linebreak and spacing issues. All other tools are useless, regarding what I've tested.

My experience is the same for INF and HLP.

Viperhelp does a pretty good job of converting iIPF to several other formats  Supported output file types are: TXT, IPF, HTM, HTML, HHP, HPJ, RTF, H, VYD, and VYT.  VYD is a VyperHelp document.  VYT is VyperHelp diagnostic trace output.  H is a C language header file.  Use "HTM" is single file HTML and "HTML" for multi-file (frame) output.

Source code is included in the package on this site.

I am updating Gotcha! (screen capture utility). It now can be run in the background. It captures all the Print screen key combos.
Print screen & Shift Print Screen send the screen, a screen region, a window or a window interior to a file (selected or a default name)
Ctrl print screen does the same except sends the image to the clipboard
Alt Print Screen opens the setting.

It still needs some final design decisions and the documentation needs updating but it should be ready in the not to distant future.

Internet / Re: SeaMonkey Experimental build 3

Unfortunately, TOP doesn't work on this machine (problems with OS/2 fullscreen sessions) so I can't look to see what is running when I try to start SeaMonkey in this state. Definitely a head scratcher...

Hi David

Top runs fine from a command window. It is in the PATH on ArcaOS. Alternatively if you have FM/2, its Kill facility will pull up the same complete list you get from Top.

As the maintainer of NEPMD (Hi Gregg) I use EPM. I would like to see a more feature-rich version of FTE, whose speed is impressive.

FTE and NEPMD are free software.

Hi Andreas feel free to request any features you would like. http://trac.netlabs.org/efte I am happy to look at adding them.

Obviously as eFTE2 maintainer I recommend it (on Hobbes). That aside I recommend you avoid editors that aren't either open source or being actively developed. If any of the others have an issue it will never be fixed.

FTE (Folding Text Editor) is not listed.
I use it here and at work to write REXX scripts.

Indention problem with END that worked well earlier, is somewhat annoying, but syntax highlighting and support for a wide variety of languages make it great.

Is this with FTE or my recent release of EFTE2 where I attempted to fix this issue? If with FTE try EFTE2 if with EFTE2 please submit a ticket on netlabs.

Martin

If you are serious about helping to maintain or port software I think you need to install Open Watcom for maintaining OS/2 software and need  GCC for porting. Open Watcom has been forked. There is a 2.0 version of the fork that has an OS/2 version but that version doesn't contain the latest OX/2 code. The unforked version is still at 1.9 which lacks Steve Levine's debug and high memory updates and lacks wipfc. I would recommend you install the unforked 1.9 and highly recommend if you or anyone else is interested I have a build of the latest code which I can provide as a zip file you can unzip over the i1.9 install.

As for GCC, Paul Smedley offers a copy of his build environment for a small donation either by mail on a DVD or via download (note it is huge). This gives you a very complete environment. If you want to stick with what is available from yum. You should also download the open watcom linker (on the netlabs rpm site) and make sure GCC is setup to use it as the linker (it is the most capable and advanced linker that runs on OS/2). Obviously if you get the latest Open Watcom from me you can forgo the download and just use the OW linker (wl) from the OW install.
