Post by: Ben Hjelt on September 18, 2022, 10:57:43 am
Started "collecting" my downloads from 5.0.4 but missed out on the start - any one willing to share this particular early iso?
Arca Noae should have made a physical big box release too ::)

I get it, it's just this Steam-esque method of software delivery that's both a blessing and a curse for those that like to hold stuff in their hands.

EDIT: Asked Arca Noae so will see what they think ;D

When you make a software release that is millions, a box release is no big deal. When you will sell a couple of dozen, a box is a few hundred dollars (each). I currently produce the media for Arca Noae and sell it on the Blonde Guy website. Please comment on this thread if you would be interested in a box release, and I'll crunch the numbers and see if it is possible.

Oof.. economy of scale. Cheaper for one person to just get some archival DVD-Rs and a print a custom case.

You can still install from a DVD, if you have a drive.that can read a DVD, and will boot on your system (even in UEFI mode). A USB DVD drive works as long as you can boot from it.

Personally, I find using a USB stick to be far more convenient, and they are much easier to find.
