Marketplace / Re: ebay Stuff
« on: April 05, 2021, 02:09:12 pm »
Always fun to see what's on sale of OS2 stuff on eBay and while I didn't really collected any OS2 related stuff I do still have a few things left which I consider putting up for sale at eBay just allow a fair chance to get it. Got some old unused t-shirts, IBM Pink Panther wrist watch, etc. Remember 15 years when I put up a big ass OS2 flag on eBay which sold for far more than I ever expected.

But, in general the retro tech prices has gone up over the last couple of years and special during last year; guess that people needs to have small projects when society in general is locked down  :) While I don't collect OS2, I've been over the last year more into Dragon 32/64, TRS-80, C64, C128, A1000 and A500 including that I've also fixed up some of my old Thinkpad X system.

While I'm happy to setup basic email alias for the email accounts here on OS2 World it's worth mentioning that if you want to have an additional proxy layer for you emails that you receive and which you might want to easy get ride off. I would suggest to make use of GMail and enable email forward to your OS2 World account. Quite easy way of adding multiply proxy emails to an existing account  ;D

General Discussion / pmMail migration to Thunderbird
« on: October 25, 2020, 07:52:52 pm »
See that this migration script for pmMail is still around https://ecsoft2.org/pmmail-mozilla-mail and was wondering if anyone recently been using it to migrate from pmMail to Thunderbird?

Just got to ask but does TB for OS2 support STARTTLS?

We've quite recently chosen to upgrade the mail functionality for OS2 World.Com to improve the availability and security which of course have some implication for those of you having email accounts with us. If you currently have issues accessing your account, please then reach out using the contact form on the main page, but please ensure that you use an email address that we can communicate back to you with (so don't use your os2world related email) or use the forum PM function.

The biggest changes that we have done are as follows:
- POP-protocol has been retired and therefor we're enforcing the usage of IMAP only.
- IMAP-authentication enforcing STARTTLS
- Send email address has to match the account setup else it won't be accepted by the server.
- SMTP-authentication enforcing STARTTLS
- Improved the grey- and blacklisting of emails and handling of spam.
- Implementation of DMARC, Sender Policy Framework (SPF) and DKIM

The old mail server can still be reached using pop.os2world.net and where the new server can be reached using mail.os2world.com.

Using Thunderbird should be straight forward moving over to the new server but if you're also using GMail to access your account on the previous server there might be issues with setting up IMAP related accounts. Sorry to say, I don't use GMail, so can help out there so anyone in the community please chip in if you have a solution on how to setup multiply IMAP accounts and whether it possible.

If you have any plans to migrate and consolidate email accounts a suggestion can be to make use of MailStore Home (https://www.mailstore.com) which is an excellent program for this. And Yes, it's Windows only, but I'm mentioning it as a suggestion.

For Android users who are struggling there I recomend FairEmail (https://email.faircode.eu/) which by far the best email client for this platform. It's supports both S/MIME certificate and OpenPGP including if privacy is critical, then don't look further.

My Hardware experiments are shown as well as the first steps with the Touch Interface.

Great Stuff Sigurd! I'm almost tempted to high-jack my wifes Thinkpad Yoga to try out the tocuh screen together with OS2.

Well, not ref to any application, but rather webex session to share presentations over the net and using phone bridges with dial in numbers for NA, EMEA and APAC. When it comes to the webex client, it's non OS2, and requires Windows to work.

None of the Warpstock organizers or attendees live in St. Louis. We've found someone to do the video/sharing.

Neil, quick one, but I understand that you've managed to solve video/sharing. I would be able to at least be able to hosts some of the presentations via webex together with global dialin.
