Hello
...Who wants to put his name in a list?
Me also for sure.

I haven't tried to contact J. Clark Maurer in the past, so I have no idea what he will think.

Since this is a current product that is still marketed for Windows, my approach idea would be:
- Ask to open source Visual Slicked only for OS/2. It is an old and outdated version, so it will not affect his current business.
- Tell him that even if the OS/2 version is open source, he will keep all the copyright of the code open source at that moment. (as usual with open source software)
- The brand "Slick" will be completely removed from the OS/2 code version to don't reference the software and don't produce a confusion in the market. Only the copyright notice to the company will remain there.
- We will not market that SlickEdit for OS/2 got open sourced. We will recompile it with a different name... "WarpEdit".. "FinalEdit"... "CoolEdit"...

If he don't want to open source it. Ask him to get the OS/2 software released as "AS IS Freeware".

...sorry for dreaming ahead of time..

Hi Neil
There is a nice article on Wikipedia about SlickEdit. Apparently it's author also wrote the E editor while at IBM. This is a good choice for at least some support for OS/2 users, because the author will know what OS/2 is.
That's a good tip:

I'm having a look at the SlickEdit website... Guess I may try to send them an e-mail. I fear though that, without a good number of subscribers, a petition would be left without success. Who wants to put his name in a list?

I'll go first, of course 8)

Can you post your setup.cmd and also protocol.ini ?

The error does not sound as if this is HW or driver related. It rather sounds like TCP/IP not being set up correctly.

By the way: you might also consider applying the patch to the NDIS driver:
https://www.os2site.com/sw/drivers/network/3com/3c589patch.zip

That might not strictly be necessary on your system but it surely won't hurt either. In addition, it will make the "3net_log.exe" utility work.

Finally, look here, it is about Warp 4 but since you are using Warp 3, it might apply nonetheless:

Hi Lars, I swapped out the 3Com for a Xircom CreditCard Ethernet Adapter IIps (PS-CE2-10) which I have made further progress with than I have had with the 3Com. Since this card uses the pointed driver from my understanding I configured socket services to exclude slot 1. On boot-up I see some link activity but once fully into the WPS I get no activity on adapter lights or ping response. The adapter is picking IRQ and Memory address. I have tried a few different IRQs to see if that made any difference but get the same result. I have not tried to manually set Memory address. I have uploaded the requested information.

I would love for the Visual SlickEdit to be released. The OS/2 version is soooo old that honestly I can't imagine (even remotely) the possibility of such code base impacting any of their current commercial products.

YES.
