Applications / Re: General Software Testing

Just trying today (if trying is right word) this software I found: "IBM M-Control Program/2". It is some multimedia/video software for several platforms and for OS/2 MMOS2. It has a toolkit, libraries, samples, but I'm still now sure what is this software for.

I guess it is something relates to Video and LaserDisc, it says it has support for the following device:
Code: [Select]

                        Pioneer LD-V2200
                        Pioneer LD-V4200
                        Pioneer LD-V4300D (NTSC/PAL)
                        Pioneer LD-V4400
                        Pioneer LD-V6000
                        Pioneer LD-V6000A
                        Pioneer LD-V6010A
                        Pioneer LD-V8000
                        Sony LDP-1200
                        Sony LDP-1450
                        Sony LDP-1500
                        Sony LDP-1550
                        Sony LDP-2000 (Models 1-5 RS-232 Interface)
                        Sony LDP-3600D (NTSC/PAL)

I downloaded those files and transform them from diskette images to zip files.

If someone knows a more easy going definition what is this for, let me know.

@Martin: This does not seem to be on the mainboards page
Thanks for letting me know. I had updated the list.

I documented some reported working mainboards on the OS2World wiki, right here:

But I don't think they have PS2 ports anymore.

Bringing back this really of thread, just to let you know...

- Visualization Software Spectrogram 16 (2008-05-18) was included on the wiki and in hobbes. Audio Spectrum Analysis utility.
- IrfanView 4.6.7 (2024-04-05) also includes in the wiki and hobbes. Photo viewer.

I tried PhotoFiltre 7.2.1 but it crashed on me when I try to open a picture. (

I found this VSE/ESA Workstation Interface:
I'm guessing it is a utility to send commands to a mainframe, right?
It comes with a .VRP and some .VRX files, are those the source code of it for VX-REXX ?

Applications / Re: RPM Repository: IBM OS/2 Toolkit.

Hi Dave

Maybe is something like that.  With lxlite SOM.DLL and SOMD.DLL get compressed, but not exactly the same size.
Should we assume that are the same files and do not worry about it?

Just drifting away from this topic, I noticed that some SOM Dlls are different size and date from the OS/2 TK 4.5 and the ones installed in ArcaOS 5.1.

This time I don't know what this software is about:
Some place say it is a " NetWare Migration Utility" and "Netware Migration Utility for Netware 3.11 and 4.0", but other place says it is "Fix for 000D's when migrating apps "

Did someone remember this one? I just want to have it documented and archived, not that I have any plans.

Hello, thanks for reply KO Myung-Hun.
...libraries such as libssh2 and OpenSSL ..
Just as a side note, I was like crazy trying to find libssh2 1.11.0 lib for OS/2. It turns out it is only on netlabs exp for the moment.

KO Myung-Hun do you think it can be possible to recompile K File Wizard with newer library links, in case it works.
Do you think is there an issue that our latest OpenSSL for OS/2 is 1.1.1l rel 1 (2021-08-31), while the last official one is 3.3.0 ?

General Discussion / Chuck McKinnis Passed Away
« on: May 19, 2024, 07:13:10 pm »
Dear Community Friends

Yesterday I found this news at his Facebook page. There were two posts from his daughters Kelly McKinnis  and Kimberly McKinnis. Even that I was not able to find an online obituary yet, I'm calculating he passed away on May 17.

I met Chuck on a couple of Warpstocks on the past and he was a nice and funny guy. He will be missed.

If you don't know who Chuck was, I have a little profile about him on the OS2World Wiki pages.
Here are some Chuck pictures from Warpstock:

Rest in peace Chuck.

Hello Neil

I tried K File Wizard with
I just put KCRYPTO.DLL i nthe same folder with kfw.exe

The software runs, but I tried a test SFTP. I get an error I can not connect to a directory with "System" encoding
I try it with UTF-8, it hangs here. The CPU spikes to 100% and I can only kill it with CAD and TOP.
On my Windows machine with Filezilla, I can connect to the test site.

Virtualization / Re: ArcaOS 5.1 on Apple Silicone
« on: May 17, 2024, 04:43:41 pm »
Hello Jean-Yves

I was checking the alternatives for a Mac with Apple Silicon to run ArcaOS. I don't know much about it since I don't have Macs.

If we go with the VirtualBox way to run ArcaOS as a guest, I found that there is an specific version of VirtualBox made for Apple Silicon. It is not on the main download page, but in the older releases pages:
It is listed on the 7.0.8 release as "Deloper preview for macOS / Arm64 (M1/M2) hosts"

Will it work on the M3 Apple Silicon? I guess I would need your help Jean-Yves to confirm if it works and if you can run ArcaOS there. But maybe it is only a virtualizer and does not emulate Intel.
