Tom thank yo for providing this for testing. I have found that Dobble runs multimedia much better in Windows than Otter or Falcon. Although Windows 11 security balks at the exe. AAnd it runs better than Dobble QT5 in Arca OS.

I didn't build this - this build comes from the creator of Dooble (textbrowser). I only passed along the link where it could be found.

That it runs better than the OS/2 port is not surprising: the OS/2 port of Qt is far from complete, and that is the basis for the OS/2 port of Dooble.

I want to get the latest Windows version of Dooble, but I can not find it on the git. (I already asked the author about that)

Latest version of Dooble for Windows:

(releasing binaries happens about twice per year, the rest of the releases is source-only)

ic. my version is i686, update to pentium4 was not possible with YUM/ANPM. Maybe need to install the package manually..

In ANPM, use the menu YUM --> Platform to add pentium4 (if it is not already listed). After that, move the line pentium4 to the top (using the buttons on the right side of the window). And restart ANPM (maybe not needed, but it won't hurt).

After that, you should be able to update a package from i686 to pentium4.

in popuplog.os2 I find:
SYS2070 PID 00cc TID 0001 Slot 00c3

That suggests that your installed version of libc is not new enough. Which version do you have installed?
The most recent version is libc-0.1.12-1.oc00.pentium4.rpm

"Carlton" ?? From "The fresh prince of Bel-Air"?
More likely named after sir Thomas Hobbes. Perhaps David Rocks, the founder of Hobbes at NMSU, can answer that.

(...) That may be down to the use of CHECKINI.  (Talking of which, has Henk also been kind enough to update his other Regularly Useful util, CLEANINI?)

checkini is from Henk Kelder, but cleanini is from Carsten Arnold.

The system should be doing automatic archives of the desktop, config.sys etc. Boot and when the white blob appears at the beginning of the boot, press F1, gotta be quick. You will get a menu including a list of archives you can restore. Usually 3 plus the original install one.

You mean Alt + F1 ?

It seems another group is also working on a way to save the content of Hobbes: the Classic Computing cctalk Mailing List.

I already informed Roderick about this.

I guess it is here: but it is dead link now. ยด

No it is not, because your URL is missing one 'f' at the start of the file name ;)
If you add that, the link works.

I see no auctions on eBay for 2.11, but several on Amazon. And a search for the ISBN in a search machine gives even more sellers. Search for  0672305631.
Best option appears to be at marketplace: brand new copy (so including the companion diskette) for 35.51 GBP. See

Hi Remy, thanks for the report. Guess I need to test on a virgin system. For now, move the dictionaries to @unixroot\usr\bin\webengine_dictionaries.

Or use the environment variable DOOBLE_TRANSLATIONS_PATH to point to wherever you have placed the translation files.

I suggest that you post the entire testlog. It has other interesting information.

Ahem, it also contains your real name, registration number with AN and email address, all in plain text.
So it seems advisable to delete that personal information before you post your testlog output on this public forum!

Also do you know any other Korean programmers that you can contact who might help?

One name that comes to my mind is komh, who (among many other projects) has ported VLC to OS/2.
The file readme.eng in VLC 3.0.20 (to be found at Hobbes) contains even a link for donations, that points to a webpage at ...

So basically I want to be able to create a new file in a directory using the CLI.

Maybe I misunderstand you, but I would expect the following to work:

cd <directory>
e (or tedit or epm or whichever editor)
start typing
use Save as and give it a filename (some editors might even allow you to start the editor with a desired file name which will be created if it doesn't exist already)

Another possibility:

cd <directory>
copy con: <filename>
start typing
