Virtualization / Re: Win-OS/2 - Open vbesvga.drv video driver
« on: May 17, 2025, 05:13:31 pm »
One thing I just noticed: on my 2560x1080 monitor the mouse pointer will not go all the way to the right side of the screen - it stops about 150 pixels from the edge. So any maximized window I have to move it to the left to get to the min/max arrows. Anyone else seeing this? I made a comment on the OS/2 thread at the developer's github site...

Hey Martin!

Wow! It really works! I tried it with my new 2560x1080 monitor in full screen WinOS2 on VirtualBox (which showed the jumpy mouse and can't get to bottom problem) and everything is normal! This thing needs to become part of ArcaOS I think...

Martin,

That error is about OpenSSL, not Python. Best to raise a ticket like the message says.

Try now... Sylvan updated everything that needed it for Python 3.13 and so should work now. At least it did for me.

Programming / Re: Qt6 Application Testing

Hey Dave,

I don't see what you show - when I open Dooble for QT6 and view the release notes, then close all I get is 2 identical lines:

[179:1:0513/195224.972000:ERROR:system_network_context_manager.cpp(299)] Cannot use V8 Proxy resolver in single process mode.
[179:1:0513/195224.979000:ERROR:system_network_context_manager.cpp(299)] Cannot use V8 Proxy resolver in single process mode.

and that's it...

Programming / Re: Request: Compile "Tower Topper" (aka Nebulus)

Thanks Dave and Martin for doing this... I really like Tower Toppler and it works well. Only issue I've seen is a trap on quitting (SIGSEGV), but doesn't affect the game.

Dave,

  With this one I'm getting:

[C:\junk\dl\toppler]toppler
SYS1804: The system cannot find the file SDL2MIX0.

I do have all the SDL2 files installed. BTW - which version of SDL2 are you using? I have 2.0.18.

Dave,

I see quick hangs or closes in Dooble QT6 with github too. Just thought it was because of the age of our WebEngine, but maybe not?

Paul,

Yes, this one seems to work as well as the previous working version - with the same limitations (mostly occasional random system hangs). Any thought on trying to build the 6.2.12 version of webengine?

Hey Paul,

I get the same result as you, but I also have my RPM environment totally current. I was able to get it to work by just copying QT6WebEn.dll from your last package (20250505) to the new one and then it all worked.

Thanks Paul - every QT6 app I've tried works just fine with this build! Haven't tried any examples yet though...

 Hey Neil,

In desperation I reset to VGA, then installed Panorama, and now I can get full resolution in Virtualbox. I always run full screen (no windows), so this will be good for now. No idea what went wrong before...

Virtualization / New higher-res monitor with ArcaOS on VirtualBox
« on: May 02, 2025, 10:18:07 pm »
Got a newer wider screen monitor with 2560x1080 resolution to replace an old standard 1920x1080 res monitor. Booted directly to ArcaOS using Panorama it works fine. Running ArcaOS under VirtualBox inside Windows 11 it seems to only be able to get 1920x1080 resolution (black bars on left and right sides of full screen).

Has anyone gotten higher than 1920x1080 in VirtualBox under Windows?

I followed the Arca Noae instructions to change resolution using the VBoxManage app (I tried 2560x1080x16 and 2560x1080x24 and 2560x1080x32) but when I do that, the only choice I get in the 'Screen' object is 1600x1200x16777216. So I set back to 1920x1080x32. Kinda implies it can't be done. Is there something else I need to do to get the desired resolution? Did increase video memory to 128MB, but it made no difference.

Applications / Re: SSL update: Firefox XUL.DLL can no longer load
« on: April 18, 2025, 12:22:21 pm »
Lars,

I also noticed on my system that Firefox itself comes with a ssl3.dll, so maybe you could also reinstall that too (not sure why it needs it's own version).
