I've generated now a bug tracker ticket (0001869) as "feature".

Setup & Installation / Re: usb boot arca502 problem disk full
« on: April 23, 2018, 09:46:04 pm »
I also ran in this problem. You can place small additional data to the 2 GB formatted USB stick like a DFSEE program directory, but after copying a data storage zip file with 200 MB, I got this error message. That means, the USB stick must have at least ca 600 MB free disk space, because it is temporary used while installation.

Where can I set a partition to "non-Windows" in DFSEE? In DFSEE you can change all (expert mode, edit partiton data), but changing only the e.g. format fails, because the other partition data gets influenced. The only way at this point is to save the complete partition data and to restore it. So marking to "non-Windows" would indeed be the best way.

I have realized now that my partition order is:
- Windows 10 32 bit
- ArcaOS
- Windows 10 64 bit

The correct order would be to install both Windows at the beginning, and to place the ArcaOS partiton after all Windows boot partitions.

I made my partions with minilvm, and of course choose a specific partion in the Windows install program.

Hardware / Setting HD to idle/sleep
« on: April 22, 2018, 11:32:56 am »
On my new computer, the SDD is daily used, and the HD is used for storing only. All parts are very quiet besides the HD. On my old computer (eCS 1.2), the HD was set to idle/sleep when it was not used. In ArcaOS, it runs all the time. Can I set this feature via ADD parameters in the Config.sys?

If not, is there a commandline utility doing that? I have googled and found hd-idle and hdparm, both for Linux. hdparm has got a Windows port by using a general Posix DLL. But this does not work with Odin.

If noone has an idea how to do that, a hdparm port to OS/2 would be really useful. hdparm is a posix project, and a posix OS/2 project is also existing.

The order of the partitions is Windows first, too. And anway, I got the problem.

Setup & Installation / Airboot and installing Windows 10 and ArcaOS
« on: April 22, 2018, 10:29:07 am »
I have managed to install both Windows and ArcaOS on a new computer. But now I have realized that, if you install ArcaOS before installing Windows, Windows changes the partition format of the ArcaOS partition from JFS to NTFS. You can see this in DFSEE. The data partitions are unchanged. Now I have got a JFS partition which is marked as NTFS. Does anyone know how to correct this?

Reinstalling ArcaOS will work, but I hope there is a more easier way. At the moment, I cannot start ArcaOS at all. When starting via ArcaOS USB stick, I see the C: partition, but I get an error message when accessing the data, because OS/2 cannot handle this file system. The Airboot menu OS entries are no more correctly assigned: When selecting ArcaOS, the second Windows installation runs, the first Windows installation is OK and the second Windows entry ends in an error message "no OS found". I know that when reinstalling ArcaOS, the oder problem disappears, too. I made no partition entry backup with DFSEE.

I have managed now installing ArcaOS 5.0.2 on a AM4 board (with Bristol Ridge, but I think that makes no difference to Ryzen) from USB Stick. DVD failed, even with an additional SATA PCIe card.

The way to success is the following:
- I needed to buy a USB 2.0 PCIe card. (PCI USB 2.0 cards are cheaper, but my AM4 board has no PCI slots.)
- I needed to switch to "modern hardware, safe mode" in the ArcaOS Pre-Install Menu.

All drivers work fine; Panorama is installed, of course. At the moment, I can only use one processor, and I hope a future ACPI driver will solve the problem.
