Hardware / Re: eCS on an Acer Aspire One?
« on: December 12, 2013, 09:37:52 pm »
I have tried installing eCS 2.1. It gets to the boot screen to boot from the cd. I enter the settings where I indicated to boot from an USB cd. It shows the logo. It indicates to put the installation disc into the drive and that if it is already there, to go to chapter 6.3 of the manual. It does not go any farther.  What manual?

It has an Intel processor and one can get the barebones version. The price seems reasonable. Can one install eCS on it?

It is nice to be able to get a computer without having to pay for an operating system one is not planning to use.

'The decision to flash your BIOS should not be taken lightly. It is essential that you do it mistake free if you still want to be able to use your computer.' Makes me want to only try it if the computer is not my main computing device.  8)

Hardware / 86Duino ZERO x86 Arduino and eCS?

Since it can support Windows and Linux, could it (at least in theory) run eComStation?

It indicates it costs $40.

'The 86Duino ZERO x86 Arduino development board is open source hardware and supports DOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems and is fully compatible with Arduino IDE and the Arduino “Leonardo” form factor.'

It seems it could be done.

General Discussion / Re: The Mascot

I don't really know why the second voted option is a Butterfly :)

Will it be that eComStation used to came with that video of butterflies turning into the eCS logo?

Perhaps since the butterfly comes out of a caterpillar, eComStation comes out of OS/2? eCS being the next stage in the caterpillar's life?

http://liliputing.com/2013/11/zotac-launches-zbox-nano-aq01-mini-pc-with-amd-kabini.html
I like how it does not come with an operating system. I dislike having to pay for one if I am only going to overwrite it with another.

I wonder if one could put an eCS logo on top of it?  8)

It indicates it has space for a 2.5 inch hard drive or solid state drive and has an AMD quad core cpu.

My canidate for ecs mascot

The Humming Bird:  Small,  (Small foot print of ECS)
                                Fast
                                Powerful
An object of beauty (if an os can
be refered to as a thing of beauty)
Seems to fit nicely

Regards  Phil

I like the idea of the hummingbird but I think it is already taken KolibriOS.
