Comments, Suggestions & Questions / Re: SIO2K Ray Gwinn
« on: January 28, 2021, 08:48:49 pm »
Hi

I will like to get the registered versions of SIO and SIO2K to make it available at hobbes for free.  Like a told before Ray Gwinn authorized to share the registered versions of this software.

I have knowledge of these latest version:
- SIO version 1.60d, released March 17, 1997
- SIO2K version 2.03, released June 6, 2002.

I would like to get the registered versions of those latest releases, but for the moment any registered version is good for me.

For what I know there is no registration key, the registered version was a different compiled version. If someone can confirm I will appreciate it.

Hi Neil. Thanks !!

Can you please share the model number?

Where is it hanging on Boot? It is not finding the ArcaOS install media? Do you think it is an USB 3 issue? Are you testing it with UEFI Compatible mode on the BIOS?

When the report is about a Lenovo computer I like reviewing the specs on the PSREF site with the model number.

Hi Ian, Alexander.

Do you think this "multistream issue" is related (or the same) as this ticket? "Shared mode doesn't work"
Or are different things?

Hi

I installed Timdity MCD (which I know it is not recommended) with "MINSTALL (Kiewits)" in ArcaOS 5.0.6 and I now want to uninstall it.
I don't know how to uninstall it, can someone please give me some tips?

Hi

I have some partial good news. Ray Gwinn authorized to share the registered version of SIO and SIO2K. But currently I don't have the registered version of SIO2K (that is why is partial good news). If someone has the registered version of SIO2K please let me know.  For what I was able to research the latest version of SIO2K was 2.03, released June 6, 2002.

Hi

Ray has replied to me that he cannot make licensed versions of SIO2K, since he lost the code that makes licensed versions.
I'm asking if he can turn SIO2K as "AS IS" freeware and if it can be possible to share the license code of someone with the community. I need his confirmation.

I'm not a user of SIO2K. How is the registration process? is it just including an serial number on the application or text file, or the binary has to be produced with the serial number?

Hi Robin

Excuse me if I ask too much, but I was wondering what is your need for SIO2K, what is been used for? Just to see if we can find some workaround. Is the OS/2 machine requiring a modem or some specific serial device that requires SIO2K?

Hi

Ray Gwinn was active on facebook some days ago. I'm trying again to see if we can get a freeware license for the community.

I also tried to get the source code some time ago but he needed physical presence of someone to help him with the machine. I can not recall where he was located in the US.

No significant changes - mainly updated some libraries to the latest kernel (rbtree, regmap, regcache) and some code cleanups from AlexT

?? ???
Hi Alex.  On the IRC there is a user called AlexT on the some OS/2 channels.  I guess it is not you (Alex Taylor) because you usally go on IRC with the "altsan" nickname, right?

It might be a good idea ;) to read the included webcam.txt file?

Code: [Select]
┌───────────────┐                                                ┌────────────┐
│ Webcam Server ├────────────────────────────────────────────────┤ webcam.exe │
└───────────────┘                                                └────────────┘
.
Use "webcam /a" to run named pipe server for wav audio from the microphone.
┌──────────────────────┐                                        ┌─────────────┐
│ Webcam Monitor Audio ├────────────────────────────────────────┤ wmaudio.exe │
└──────────────────────┘                                        └─────────────┘
.
Plays pcm wave audio from the Webcam Server. Acts as named pipe client.
Use "wmaudio" to connect the Webcam Monitor Audio to \PIPE\Webcam\Audio.
Use e.g "wmaudio /a1/v30" to play on audio adapter 1 at reduced volume.
.

Hi Wim

I wanted to test any kind of sound from my USB Webcam - Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam
I'm using "Webcam00-20210120.zip" and Lar's USBAUDIO.

I get this error:
Code: [Select]

/n server (video) On-Line.
 set audio frequency
 starting iso video
 set audio mike volume
 set audio alt interface
 starting iso audio

obtain audio error.
The camera lights up. "wmvideo /n" works and provide video

And

Code: [Select]
[X:\HOME\DOWNLOADS\WEBCAM00-20210120]wmaudio /a3 /v100
started.
